Heyy i have that same problem! I started liking him since he came into my school, but then we became friends, then one of his friends got in a fight over a girl, and the other boy didnt even like that girl, (I would know!) Then, over IM, he told me everything, and since i gave him this GREAT advice! (thats what HE said, he said i should make a website it was soo goood...) i started liking him A LOT more, but he luvs my other friend, the girl that he and his friend had a fight about, and she likes him back.... and you should tell the boy that u like him. he might feel the same way. tell him u understand if it is kind of out of the random if he thinks it, but at least you will get that off your chest, It always feels better to tell them what u think than keep it bottled up and wait.

Give it time. Sometimes you can't have it all, so if you like his friendship keep what you got. How would you feel if you didn't even have his friendship, but if you can't help holding it in then talk to him. Maybe he feels the same.
Maybe you should say hey do you like anybody at school? Or I think I like someone, but I am too shy to talk to them about it? Or be his secret admirer for awhile and see how he reacts to it. He is your friend you should feel comfortable and yourself with him

you have to tell him about it because it is a big thing and if you dont then he isa going to fing out and then he is going to be mad at you and you dont want tht to happen
