America Is Going To Hell In A Handbasket!
America is going to hell in a handbasket and the so called "secular progressives" are greasing the rails! Do you believe what's going on in Berkeley, CA and Toledo, Ohio?!!! These people call themselves Americans and can tell a branch of the United States Military they are not welcome in their town? They are telling the Marine Recruiters they are not allowed to park on the streets! Anyone else can though. Conduct such as this is outrageous! I support Senator De Mint's bill, Semper Fi of 2008, that the Federal Government withhold the $2 million dollars earmarked for Berkeley and give it to the Marine Corp. Where is Obama and Hillary in all this?!!! Do they condone these un-American acts? I've not heard them say one word against Berkeley's conduct, have you? If you want to sign a petition supporting De Mint's Semper Fi Act, go to: jsekulow@aclj.org. They will e-mail your petition to your respective congressmen. Please do something about it now. How can anyone, even Democrats who claim to love this country, not be outraged by this shameful behavior?

Not enough patriots left unfortunately. The old guard is passing away and the new generation is all me, me, me only and formost. The present generation has for the large part been a selfish, egotistical, unpatriotic, cowardly, greedy, self-serving generation. They take for granted the freedoms and liberties they presently enjoy, while ignoring the sacrifices it took to obtain and keep these liberties and freedoms. -

I have come to the conclusion that the US needs to cut back to 49 states. Give the northern half of California to Oregon and the southern half back to Mexico. Those people aren't Americans anyhow.

We came from California (Santa Rosa, about an hour north of SF) and moved to Oregon to retire. I couldn't agree with you more. I don't know about southern California, but the politics and liberal lifestyles of the northbay area are mind boggling....indulging in every self-centered perversion known to mankind and then trying to pass themselves off as the great peace makers who just want everyone to "love each other". Yet these are some of the most hateful people you could meet when it comes to their behavior toward "the regular folk."

Actually it levels the playing field for all of us. I met a millionaires kid that fought the draft, but ended up serving right along me. My draft number was high enough that i didn't need to enlist during the Vietnam conflict. I volunteered anyway to serve my country and get an education later. This generation needs an attitude adjustment.

This behavior is beyond shameful! I was floored! We are all Americans, all of us have the same right to protest and speak as we wish. However, when did P-A-T-R-I-O-T-I-S-M leave our language?! You don't target those that actually fight to keep that right! If one protests the war, there are other ways to show it. My son is over there right now fighting. What makes me SICK is the fact that these people and their radical behavior is what he's fighting to preserve!! So, Berkeley must see our armed forces as the enemy. I guess they believe that our government is evil and only out to do harm. What, did Bush and his advisors sit up late one night bored, and plan a war?!! Are you kidding me? I believe that our government tries to do the right thing but sometimes makes mistakes. I must be one of the few who remember 9/11. At any rate, at the very LEAST, Berkeley should lose their funding. Just goes to show you what a bunch of uneducated, self righteous idiots will do when THEY get bored!

I agree, I have family in Frisco, it has always been strange, Bush & unfortunately our Gov't wanted this War, War is Hell but it is also profitable for some, I think you will hear from Obama on this issue, I would'nt hold my breath for the others. I am stunned over what they did to the Marines, I am a Dem but please don't think that we all are cut from the same cloth, I am also a dis-abled Viet Nam Vet. I do not support this War but I will always support the American Fighting man or woman, and like Barack I think it's time they all came home, once again we are fighting not for America but for the interest of the Oil Barons, crooked Pols, and those that could not care less for our Country

If you don't support this war why would you support recruitment of your neighbor's sons and daughters to go overseas and die for a cause that you don't believe in? I can see their side of this and it is only logical. San Francisco has always been a very liberal town. They are not afraid to speak out against this pointless war.

If it wasnt for the corps and our other armed services San Fran wouldnt have the right to their liberal views nor probably any rights period. They would be speaking russian most likely. I hope they eventually kick in the draft and start with those tree hugging beatnics. As it is right now you have a choice as to weather you want to serve your country or not. That is one freedom that most countries dont have. People take their freedoms for granted, by not letting the corps recruit in their town its basicly a slap in the face to the brave men and women who protect those very same freedoms.
