I keep seeing ads from my cable company, they want me to switch my phone and internet service to their company.

I keep loosing cable signal, i can never get them on the phone, they don't show up for 'appointments' (with 5 hour windows, and I take off work)

Why on earth would I trust them with any other services???

There was a story on the news, about a 75 yr old woman who was having issues with her cable company. They bullied/cajoled her into combining her landline phone with her cable. It killed her phone. She had a husband with health issues so no phone could be deadly. She called them with a mobile and from a neighbors house, and finally, after the menus, she got to talk to someone. They said they would send someone out.

She waited at her house all day, and no one showed up. She called them from neighbors house, and the cable company swore they sent someone.

So, she went down to the company to talk to someone. THey told her since she didn't have an appointment, she would have to wait. And wait she did, only to find out the person she had to speak to snuck out the back door, leaving her in the waiting room.

She came back in a few days, and once again, made her complaint, and was ignored. She pulled a hammer from her hand bag and beat the $hit out of the phone, the computer keyboard, smashing them to pieces. She then politely asked "Do I have your attention now?"

I wouldn't trust them to wipe off the seat! But seriously the cable company has been pretty good here, with the exception of that one month of screwed up picture. The installation contractors have also been good about showing up on time, except this last time, when the installer was going to be late. Did we get a call on our cell phone? No. They left a message on the voicemail -- that they hadn't connected a phone for yet! Btw, they showed up late, and my wife made them stay until they finished the job. 1 AM. She's evil that way. *grin*

The cable picture problem I was referring to at the top we found out is called "macro blocking", and it's caused when you get a poor signal, so part of the encoded picture comes through, some of it doesn't. Looks like a kaleidescope, while sounding like one of those Fisher Price voice changers. So they sent a tech, who replaced the cabling inside our home. Didn't help. So they sent a tech, who replaced the cabling outside our home. Didn't help. So they sent a tech, who replaced the cabling outside and outside our home. Didn't help. Finally they replaced the cable booster thing at the end of our street. Problem fixed. Three weeks and change later... And least they sent us a microwave popcorn to make everything better. *grin*
