Preps vs. Emos (The Controversy )

Why exactly do preps and emos dislike each other so strongly? They're both very popular sterotypes that seem to be at war with one another. I, myself would be classified as emo. So from my point of view, I dislike MOST preps because a majority are snobby, rich kids that think they're better than everyone else below them. Ironically, I made friends with a prep. Sure he's rich and spoiled BUT, he's a good person. So, really, why do we hate each other so much?

I'm emo is it surprising?

I know a lot of Sodaheads believe that being emo is stupid, it's just a sterotype, and that all emo people do is whine about how bad their lives have been. I think I have the best reasons of all to be emo. I can't change how dark I act at times. It's only because I had a very bad childhood. Not like being abused or anything, but things have happened that I can't ever forget and that you possibly would love to know but I can't tell you. I don't like being judged this way. A lot of people believe that emos are depressed and sad all the time. That we all cut ourselves. That really isn't true. I'm emo but I don't get depressed all the time, I'm generally a happy person, and I think cutting yourself is the stupidiest thing you can ever do. You just want attention cause cutting yourself doesn't solve any problems whatsoever. My definition of an emo person is; a person that has gone through terrible ordeals in their life and that lead to depression. They don't know how to deal with the unbearable sadness except for listening to hard rock music that explains about life's hardships. I know this really isn't going anywhere, but I'm just sick and of people bashing on the emo community.

I don't understand how a guy tells you that he really likes you but then says that maybe the two of you shouldn't date yet cause he has "problems". Well I would like to know what the problems are but he doesn't seem to want to tell me. Then he asks for my forgiveness and then tells me he loves me. Gosh sometimes I wish I was lesbian. Yeah I said it. And people say girls are confusing....
