Hectar the Space Unicorn: Episode 1

raves     by Dr. Crimson Justice (Luv Doc)
A series of stories by my little Sis.

Hectar used to be a normal unicorn, until he was seven and a half million years old. Nazi Space Pirates kidnapped him, and he became Hectar the Space Unicorn. He flies around space battling evil with his cupcake ray gun. His latest adventure was on the planet Mars. Hectar had lost the amulet of cupcakes, which he was supposed to be delivering to the planet Jupiter. As he is searching the planet, he comes upon a giant gleeglemonster. He shoots it with his cupcake ray gun, but its not enough, and the gleeglemonster knocks the cupcake ray gun away. Will Hectar find the amulet of cupcake? Will he make it out of the battle alive? Why am I asking you these questions? Come back Tomorrow to find out.

Pull of the Noise.

I used to fight it. Today, not so much.
I’ve lost myself in the Noise.
What once was my greatest nuisance, now a joy.

The Voice of Many is one of Pride and Strength.
Mostly, However, It means “Pure Life”
I used to fight it. Now I accept it and let it draw me in.

Today I find comfort in the Noise.
That Voice is so much a part of what I’ve become.
I used to fight against it. Now I fight as an agent of the Noise.

But what do you fight for?
How hard do you fight?
Are you still fighting as the rest of the world slips?
That is the true measure of life’s worth.

Through the Fire and Flames: My Goals

Through the Fire and Flames: Goals

At this point in my young life I have many goals that keep me going through the days. I have several long and short-term goals that I am working toward. The next few paragraphs discuss just a few of them and the significance behind them.
Another short and long-term goal of mine is to form a band the likes of which have never been seen. Luckily for me that goal doesn’t seem too far off. Kyle Kissinger and I have joined forces and have been on a talent search for a months now. So far we have come up with a vocalist (me), a guitarist (Kyle). The search for a drummer and a bassist still rages on and shall not end until the task is complete.
My goal, as far as a career goes, is to finish high school, go to pre-law school for two years, then go to law school for four years to become a prosecuting attorney. The major reason I want to become a prosecutor is that I am sick and tired of turning on the news and hearing that whoever the latest sick freak around just got off the hook after doing something horrible. I am also tired of the stereotype that lawyers are only dirty, money-grubbing, thieves. I would like to be a positive force in changing people’s views of law as a career field.
I also want to scour the country and maybe eventually the world in search of the perfect cup of coffee. This is a trip that is already on the drawing board. It would, of course, take me through the greatest coffee nations in the world including Ethiopia, France, Guatemala, Columbia, and Brazil. I would start in South and Central America and then make my way to the European countryside. Of course, this is still in the planning stages and since it is a search for perfection it requires the perfect plan and timing.
One of my biggest ongoing tasks is to change the way people think about their everyday situations. From your basic “what ifs” as in “what if President Lincoln had been on the other side of his wife when Booth entered the room” to trying to (and, strangely enough, sometimes succeeding at) convince people that their real life objects are photo shopped. The job is endless yet fun. Like foods, the possibilities are limitless.
These are just of few of my long and short-range goals, and hopefully I won’t have to go through the fire and flame to reach them. No matter how big the fire, no matter how hot the flame I will carry on.

Fragrance of dark Coffee.

This is just a little bit about a few of my interests.
If you can’t tell by the title of this entry, I love coffee! I can’t get enough of this delicious elixir of life. There are so many blends, brews, body types, and degrees of smoothness and richness that no two pots of coffee are quite the same. As it was once stated: “Blacker than a moonless night, hotter and more bitter than hell itself, that is coffee.” This, to me, is a great cup of coffee.
Reading books has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Curling up by a warm fire while trying to figure out the killer’s motive is a feeling unlike any other. My current favorite books are The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and Three by Ted Dekker.
Lately I’ve had a strange fascination with the supernatural: vampires, folklore, “magic”, and spirits…well, you get the picture. Most of what I do is try to find the root of popular legends and see how much the legend has been blown out of proportion from their factual predecessor. It is surprising sometimes how extremely different the two versions can be.
I am also enthralled by the science used at a crime scene. The techniques and equipment that are used during an investigation are quite fascinating, in my opinion. It amazes me that you are able to tell exactly which gun fired the killing bullet just by looking at said bullet and comparing it to the insides of different guns.
Of all the things that interest me though, I love music most. I was instilled with an interest in this wonderful medium of entertainment from a very young age. In fact, my father played a wide variety of music for me while I was yet unborn. The biggest reason I love music as much as I do is because it is something that everyone can get into. It even brings people together in some cases, as they say: it is a universal language. There have been times that I have been at a concert and people that I have seemingly no connection with may start chatting with me about how amazing, terrible, or otherwise the act is. That often evolves into other such bands and it snowballs from there.
That was just a small taste of the entrée that is my interests. There are far too many things that intrigue me to fit into one chapter. If you like any of what you read I implore you to check out some of these things for yourself.

Imagine: My Vision for a better world.

Imagine

There are a few situations in the world today that I wish were different. Unfortunately many of those things are, for the most part, unchangeable. However, that doesn’t keep me from dreaming of better days.
One of the major things that make me sad is everybody’s negative behavior towards each other. Even just a simple glance around the school and the hatred for my fellow man is ever present.
I wish that young America wasn’t as dominated by the hip hop/gangsta culture as it is. First off, there’s the music. Most of it is degrading, crude, and offensive. Nobody would be able to go out in public and read the lyrics over a microphone. Yet, when set to a beat and given rhythm, people love the stuff. Why this has become such a phenomenon is beyond me.
It also saddens me to see the influence that the above music and culture is having on the youth of the nation. The effects vary from case to case. One child may simply disrespect their parents while another is inspired to be involved in a random act of violence. Many times the prior example leads to the latter one. Unfortunately this is a trend that shows no sign of slowing down.
The one other thing that really just bugs me is America’s steadily increasing laziness. The biggest example of this is your local Wal-Mart. First it’s a one-stop shop for everything from diapers to Geritol. People don’t have to work to find anything, its right there. Besides this is the general un-cleanliness of the store itself (which for the most part is not the fault of the employees.) Customers just treat the facilities like trash. We leave carts out in the middle of the parking lot. We pick up merchandise and instead of putting it back where we got it we simply set it down somewhere else and walk away from it.

The answer to these problems is right in front of our eyes, yet no one (including myself) really seems to be able to wrap their mind completely around these few mind-blowingly simple concepts.

1) Love-A word here meaning “acceptance” or “enjoyment”. This is essential for peaceful communications with each other. Siddhartha Guatama (Buddha) once made the statement: “You must deliver the truth with love. If you do not, the message will be rejected.” He could not have been more correct. Get this one down and we are halfway there (and hopefully no one ends up nailed to a cross for it this time).
2) Patience (AKA the hard one)-I will admit that this is the one that I have a hard time with. I accept the fact that some people are jerks. I just don’t have the patience to put up with their attitudes and actions.
3) Enthusiasm (last, but certainly not least)-If you go into everyday situations with a little excitement it’s guaranteed to go at least a wee bit better than going in without the least bit of care. This would then lead to a better mood and therefore less hostility.

Those simple steps have already been proven to work for me. If only I, along with others, could fully grasp them what a difference we could all make in the world. Just like John Lennon, I too dream of better days. I hope that one day the people of this beautiful planet will stop looking down upon one another and instead find a way to live in peace. Lennon said it best when he sang one of his most well known songs “Imagine.” That being said, I would like to wrap this up on this lasting note:
“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will be as one.” – John Lennon, “Imagine”

Coming Undone: A Rant

Coming Undone
Things that fill me with fiery, burning rage

I hate to say it, but the things that instill me with Bruce Banner-esque fury are many. The things that follow in this chapter are the ones that quickly came to mind as things I found easy to rant about. I have a few examples about which to rant: Darth Vader, “The Price is Right,” a bad cup of coffee, and the twisting of symbols.
Let’s start with Vader. He used to be the coolest villain. Dressed in his signature black suit, he instilled a sense of fear into viewers the world around. However, with the advent of the prequel trilogy and the rise of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker the origin of Darth Vader was revealed. Christensen’s portrayal of Anakin as well as some of the actions leading to the rise of Vader ruined the fear of Lord Vader that I, and surely many others once had.
Then there’s “The Price is Right.” Bob Barker held the show on top for 35 years. When he decided to retire, just like that, the show was in turmoil. Then the network executives made the oh-so-bright move of bringing on Drew Carey, whose humor, while perfect for “Whose Line is it Anyway,” isn’t an acceptable replacement for Bob’s stunning charm.
Another thing that really fills me with a strange mixture of anger and sadness is a bad cup of coffee. (Fun Fact: coffee has two hundred fifty three distinct types of bitterness.) To discover them all requires total concentration and use of all of your senses. However, in bad coffee there is one type of bitterness that is all too obvious: defeat. This bitterness can take the greatest and brightest of days and turn them into the darkest and loneliest of times. Luckily, though, this bitterness is so apparent that you usually notice it in the first few sips before it is able to take hold and throw you to the ground.
Probably the thing that currently fills me with the most burning rage is the taking of items and symbols and twisting them to the point of negative connotation. The worst culprits of this are the “gangstas”. They’ve taken our hats, our bandanas, and our sign language and twisted what they represent. Homosexual activists have claimed rainbows as their symbol and straight people can’t display them without fear of being mislabeled as homosexual.
No longer is it safe for the common man to use these everyday things, as they have become misrepresentations of the innocence they once stood for. Fortunately, the every man still has his symbols such as the American Flag, the cross, and the moose. Yet we are quickly losing our hold on these. We need to stand up and fight to protect the symbols that we still have with everything we have, and more.
These are just a few of the things that bring me great displeasure. As much as I have complained here, none of these extremely annoying things have truly caused me to come completely undone.
