As some of you may know I am fed up, more so than ever, with the crap spewed from all candidates this election year. It is no wonder our country is in the shape it is. For quite a while, I have refused to take part in our political process, local, state or federal, as I did not see any viable candidates. And my frustration kept me from even WANTING to be involved, especially in our local govt., which fortunately has been exposed for the "good ol' boy" system that it is.
After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that voting is not an option, or even a freedom, of the American citizen. Much less the American Veteran. It is a duty and responsibility!
It is our duty to ensure our country, and its' values, are continued in perpetuity for the benefit of generations to come.
It is our responsibility to put into use the rights and privileges our country's founders established, and our military defends to this day.
It is my PERSONAL responsibility to ensure that my fellow Armed Service Members are not put in harms way by ineffective leadership, and are properly cared for in return for their sacrifices.
When I get behind something I believe in, I am a force to be reckoned with. When I am to be associated with something/someone, they had better be genuine. If they are not, they will have to answer to me. Personally.
That being said, I will join Ron Paul in his bid for the White House. I will vote for him, and hold him accountable to do the things he says he will, should he be elected. While I am still no fan of politics, or politicians, I am standing tall for change. Mr. Paul seems like the only viable candidate for my vote.
Post Turtle
While suturing a cut of a 75 year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.
The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'post turtle'.
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there to begin with.'
