The Rotters
Prior to forming The Horrors, Rotter took part in a punk-esque band, The Rotters (no relation to the 70's American punk band), named after The Rotters' Club, where he took inspiration for his pseydonym, formed in a hurry after a club offered them a gig. He was joined by friends Dylan "Rotter" Wigoder (vocals), "Robot"/"Comedy" Jess "Rotter" Meek (bass), and Emily "Rotter" Watson (guitar). Not in any way a serious drummer, Badwan took up the instrument, completely unable to keep a decent beat. The band have released one triple A-side single, "Japanese Punk", but have admitted they are not a serious outfit, wrote all their songs in a matter of hours and never practice.
Artwork
Illustrating, however, is his forte. His artwork can be seen in issues of Vice Magazine, Up Music Magazine, and various other sources. It can also be found on the cover of Hatcham Social's (another native English band) singles "How Soon Was Then?" (Popgrooves) and "Till The Dawn/Penelope (Under My Hat)" (Waks Records). It was recently announced in the NME that in early '08, Badwan will be publishing a book of illustrations. Recently announced in NME, Badwan will be holding his first art exhibition in the Bodhi Gallery in London. The gallery was presented October 12th through the 21st. [1]

Joshua is the "hairy boy" of the English garage punk band The Horrors, providing a distinctive sound by rewiring his guitar pedals. He appeared on the Mighty Boosh, Series 3 Episode 6, along with the rest of The Horrors.
Musical equipment used
Guitars
Two Fender Jaguars – one white and one sunburst model
Effects pedals
Third is known to make his own effects pedals by rerouting the wiring at the back of the pedals to create a more fuzzy, garage-influenced sound. He created an article on how to achieve this in the first fanzine.
