    Nothing. We didn't have eight grade "graduations." What exactly have you "graduated" from? Just more unneeded, useless ceremony and unjustified back slapping.

    We didn't have an 8th grade graduation. We had a 6th grade "graduation", in transition from elementary school to middle school. Other than that, we just had 12th grade graduation from high school...

    We did not graduate until the twelfth grade. Graduating from year to year was not heard of, we only passed or failed to the next grade.

    yeah but that started in the 80's because in the 80's the schools wanted to make everyone feel special and that was not good.

    I see your point. There's so many girls in my school that are treating this graduation like it's 12th grade. I mean who needs TWO dresses?

    I can't believe that I remember this but it was We Are The World by USA for Africa.

    We spent the last few weeks of class practicing the song. We all sang it at graduation.

    Not necessarily, in many school districts its the delineation between Junior High and High School. Entering High School is a big deal to some kids. It means they are no longer a little kid. I looked forward to my 8th grade graduation when I was young.

    I went to school with the daughter of a musician, Smokey Robinson. He made a special song for our 8th grad graduation in 1985.
