Today comes the news that not only will US Airways begin assessing a baggage fee, they'll also be cutting service and jobs, and start charging two bucks for sodas and water onboard.

Yes. Alegiant Airlines does just that. You get some really good rates but you will pay extra for checked baggage and snacks. I try to use them every chance I can.

    I can understand that as the cost of fuel soars , rates would climb , but seeing that, the service should not also diminish. If they want to consider keeping their rates lower i guess that would be the passengers decision where they would rather the extra cost go.Do not see that happening...

    Why should we pay extra for luggage? Most people need there luggage for their destination. Doesn't make sense.

    Yes. Alegiant Airlines does just that. You get some really good rates but you will pay extra for checked baggage and snacks. I try to use them every chance I can.

    Answered No. Fuel is expensive so I undertstand the extra fee

    I prefer all-inclusive than modular. I hate having to work out taxes and other *hidden* expenses. Treat me like I'm stupid dammit ; ) and make it easy. I just wana have a holiday
