Answered No way: This is crazy! Kids have no right to sue for discipline.
Lol wow the worlds gone nuts. Im pretty sure that we don;t have all the facts on the case. and it may also be that there was some kind of a loophole in the law. it was a school trip so the child may have argued that the parent denied her hereducational rights and therefore that may be grounds for severe puishment. But I most def agree with all of you who brought up all the arguments regarding what a horrible decision it was on the judge's behalf. And the poor parent! That is going to sting forever. I have ? Do you think if it was you instead of the parent would you love your child the ssame way again? -

How retarded is this judge? Grounding a child from a school trip is "too severe?" If it were my daughter, depending upon the nature of the photos, I may have done a lot worse! This court has no idea what "severe" punishment is, and the judge should be disbarred. -

WTF? It's a parents RESPONSIBILITY to discipline (and praise) to teach the difference between right and wrong. Grounding is a far cry from abuse. This lawsuit is like the cart pulling the horse. Who's the adult here? -

Thanks to the DCFS and dumb shit lawyers, parents have no rights to their children. Parents have the right to smack their kids, (as long as it is one hit on the butt, just to make clear) and ground them too. If a child is posting way inapropriate pictures of themselves on the internet, they are asking for: #1: a predator to stalk them, #2: the chance of the whole school to see those and she gets expelled, #3: arrested for indecent lewdness of a minor, which serves jail time. Whoever talked her into suing, and then allowing her to win should be sued too for ruining the rights of parents. -
Answered I'm undecided if kids should have the right to sue for discipline.
This incident is clearly ridiculous...being grounded for three days is not the same as being beaten and locked in a cupboard. Being grounded is not (I don't think) an unfair punishment.
Whether or not the child is entitled to sure totally depends on what the discipline entails...some people see discipline as extreme violence which is clearly not acceptable (in my opinion). -

My son tried to hold me hostage by insisting I allow him a certain privilege or he would go to his father and lie about how I spent the child support. The following day I sent him to live with his father. He learned a lesson about criminal intent and today he has his PhD from Princeton. Maybe more parents should put aside their fear of the law and set boundaries,,,,or put the little bastards out! Trust me, they soon learn where their bread is buttered. We need to get liberalism out of our schools, courts and neighborhoods. -

I think as a family or as a country we are the leaders of tomorrows leaders as such the need to impress upon them in early life is the most important thing we do is respect our elders as they are have lived and gained much wisdom.I taught my daughter (and you know how girls are Daddy little princess's ) that you give respect to all until they prove themselves not worth any. You do not dis-respect you only turn your eyes and ears away from them and quietly walk away or if not space to walk stand and let them have their say and then walk away!!
So I think before your little one would think of and outside of home thinking. You have already set the grounds for how we deal with one another. SO this question would never enter you little ones head! -

I'm a kid and even I think this is crazy. She got grounded from 3 day trip how is this taking it way to far. The father did the best thing and grounded her for those pictures of her. This shows how stupid we are getting. -
Mike I would agree with you but I have alot of contact with helping Indian youth finding their heritage. I can tell you by the time they have worked though all the missing linage and lost rights denied by this Government they are ready to sit with elders and learn. The learn is a two way street and with those that come to re-find themselves it is a wonderful street!!

well,..if kids had the right to sue parents they would abuse there power, but in severe mesures it should be allowed,..but only very severe,..shoot i get grounded for talking back that girl got off easy.WHat a brat -
I don't even need to ask how old you are as your answer says it all.But I would hope that some day you'll be to old for foster care.
Your ability to use the English language is totally not.
So all I wish to say if you get grounded use the time wisely study the english book that you through in the closet when you were in first grade. -
It's not just a matter of "having fun," it's a matter of putting yourself in danger. When you are a child, you do not have the full intellect to make such decisions and it is therefore your parents' responsibility to make them for you... for your own protection. If you do not understand that, just wait. You will when you have kids someday.
