Until there is a grandparent law everywhere making the paternal and maternal grandparents of the new baby(ies) born to underage girls and guys responsible for all care and finances as primary parents, what is needed to be sure their kids don't have kids will not be done. -

wow, these girls are not looking at motherhood as a whole,babies are not like toys that can be put away when you want to do something else. Parenting is a full time job that never really ends. The fact that she let a homeless man get her pregnant speaks volumes about the her ability to reason on a mature adult level....... -

The part that's unbelievable to me is the amount of women, (okay let's call them girls because most of them are 14 or so right?) that actually are wanting to go through with this. I can see a small group making plans this far..but this is just crazy. Most girls that age (and I was there at one point so I'm talking from experience here) do go through a stage where "The world doesn't love me, a child would" or something like that, add more or less drama depending on the case.
It's pretty obvious that there's some issues at home and the roots of the problems need to be investigated, maybe not full on police force stuff, but at least a counselor. I really hope none of them back out of it in a way that would negatively affect the child's or their life. -

Sister Jean - I believe that there is one homeless man looking at these pictures and realizing that he can do better. My hope is that he is on his feet right now, looking for coffee and a job. There is hope for this man, but these girls are beyond the pale. We'll see them next on Jerry Springer, fat and loud, single or surrounded by people teating off their welfare funds. -
I'm not sure Knocked Up did (haven't seen Juno) but even if they did, where's the health classes? For a while it seemed health stuff was being shoved down our throats as students since it started at 5th grade! Since then it was maybe even taken to as low as 4th or 3rd around here and now it looks like you can kind of get out of it. Seems like a weird system to me. Parents are leaving too much about this stuff to the schools, IMO.

seriousely? so much shit being seen and heard about yet none of the past experiences effect choices in the future. i dont really know why those girls would do that... dont they know how careless and dumb that was. its hard taking care of ones self and youre gonna go and put a life on youre line on wich you bearly live on? cmon now im 14 going 15 in august and i know better than to do some shit like that! ive seen and heard stuff and that makes me think... where they thinkking? i think the question is "can" they think? -

I watched a report on it this morning, as of today 18 of the girls are pregnant, although more made the pact. One is even pregnant by a 24 year old homeless man. Apparently the school clinic gives pregnancy tests and they were going in every day and high fiving if the results were positive. The school also has a daycare for the children of students. So they offer pregnancy tests and daycare but they don't provide birth control...the parents were against it. I;m not going to be a total hypocrite, because I did get pregnant at the end of my senior year...I was 18, I certainly did not plan it, was on birth control and was not proud of what I did. I still went to college and it was tough. Of course I could not imagine my life without my son but if I had to do it all over again I would have waited...to go out and intentionally get pregnant, by any random guy, without any plans for your future is disgusting. I hope that these girls consider adoption because none of them seem to be mature or sensible enough to be parents.
