(2 Chronicles 15:13)
That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
(1 Chronicles 20:3)
And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
1 Chronicles 17-19 tells us that David slaughtered 22,000 Syrians and that Abishai murdered 18,000 Edomites.
(Numbers 25)

(4) And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
(Deuteronomy 13)
(1) If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
(2) And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
(3) Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
(4) Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
(5) And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
(6) If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
(7) Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
(8)Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
(9) But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
(10) And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
(11) And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
(12) If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
(13) Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
(14) Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;
(15) Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
(16) And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
(17) And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
(18) When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
(1 Samuel 15)
(1) Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
(2) Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
(3) Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
(2 Samuel 12:31)
And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
(Numbers 31)
(16) Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
(17) Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
(18) But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
(Deuteronomy 2)
(32) Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
(33) And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
(34) And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
(35) Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
(Deuteronomy 3)
(6) And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
(7) But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.
(Ezekiel 9)
(4) And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
(5) And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
(6) Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
(7) And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.
(8) And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?
(9) Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not.

Please do not forget that there are verses in which Jesus admonishes the apostles that if someone strikes them, they are to turn the other cheek. How many times do you turn your cheek, they asked. His reply: seven times 70. In other words, for as long as it takes for them to stop.
I wish I had the fortitude to live up to this measure. I don't, but I do my best. -

I can only assume this was posted in response to many Christains (who have never read the Quran) quoting from Islamic scriptures to prove they are barbarians. Both religions you mention, Judaism and Christianity, have very violent pasts and the "word of god" is always used as a reason and justifiably so. It is still used today by many as an excuse to beat up gays, bomb abortion clinics, and even bomb Palistine. I don't by any means mean to say that all Christians or Jews believe these actions are justified - but if they took their respective holy books seriously they would all be out killing us infidels. -

Jesus showed us a peaceful way to live. He issued a warning, not a call to arms.
Israel was first taken by Aaron's followers via war.
Mecca was first taken by Mohammed via war.
Jesus is the only founder to have established faith on the acts of a blameless man. -

are you serious? how can you ask this question? all religions are violent and bloody to those who are not part of that particular belief system.just read your bible and you can answer that yourself. the jewish god is so vindictive and evil,murderous and hatefilled thta its any wonder that there are any jews left. the christians continued this with their loving god and their forceful,wars, torture and genocide if you don't believe as they do . come on now anyone can see that religion is violent. -

I think the Bible is a road map of human evolution. Jesus taught us the way to grow to heaven. I think a lot of people are still waiting for a savior to save them from their enemies but it is up to us to pray for our enemies and treat others as we would like to be treated. As Jesus said "I give you a new commandment ; Love One Another"" -

christianity has probably the bloodiest history of ANY religion, bar none. so i would not say that it is at all peaceful. not is practice and not in the old testament. jesus talked about love and peace and poverty and look what happened to him! -
What about the Crusades? Or the Spanish Inquisition? The persecution and execution of priests of the Ancient Greek religion? The Goa Inquisition, the execution of Mennonites in the Netherlands, or the massacres of 400,000 Catholics, by Protestants, in Ireland? The silent consent that most churches gave to the Holocaust? The Salem Witch Trials, the Ku Klux Klan, or, more recently, the "almost, but not quite violence" of the Westboro Baptist Church?
Is that peaceful? -
Answered Yes
The violence committed by the Jews was directly commanded by God as punishment of heathen nations and a means to obtain the Promised Land. That's the rationale anyway, agree or disagree with it.
As for Jesus' quote, you are misunderstanding it. One might look to the Book of Revelations as well as to put it into context. In Revelations, Jesus is described as having a sharp double-edged sword coming out of His mouth. Now, does this literally mean Jesus has a metal implement of warfare sticking out of his face? No. It is a metaphor; the sword represents the Word of God-- Hebrews 4:12 describes the Word of God as "sharper than a double-edged sword," and Paul tells believers to gird themselves with "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God" in Ephesians 6:17. Jesus said He would bring division to people, but He was not speaking of physical division, but spiritual division; people, even within families, would become separated based on whether they rejected or accepted His message.
Anyone who could possibly think Christ advocated violence is misinformed.
Also, you might want to check out Matthew 26:52, where Jesus commands His follower to put his sword away because he who lives by the sword will die by the sword. Or when He asks the men who came to crucify Him, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you come after me with swords and clubs?" (Mark 14:48).

It all depends on the person practicing it. Abortion clinic bombings,Spanish inquisition, Crusades, homophobia, ect. Just as there are peace
loving Muslim's, there are peace loving Christians. Just as there are
hateful Muslim's, there are hateful Christians. Both religions when
taught properly teach love and understanding, and both when twisted
will get you hatred.
