George Carlin dies at 71.....will you miss him?

Comedian George Carlin dead at age 71

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — A publicist for George Carlin says the legendary comedian has died of heart failure at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.

Jeff Abraham says Carlin went into St. John's Health Center on Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55 p.m. PDT. He was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. It was announced Tuesday that Carlin was being awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The dean of counterculture comedians, Carlin constantly pushed the envelop with his jokes, particularly with a routine called "The Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV."

    Then don't and move on.

BTW, Leviticus does not apply to now because it is the Old Testament and it is only a reference of God's attributes and how he govern before the coming of Christ. We are governed my the New Testament.

    Let's move on.

Your interpretation of the Bible is what so many carnal christians hold fast too. Jesus came to fulfill the law!, not to abolish it.That is why Jesus could go to the cross for our sins, because he fulfilled the law of Moses. He never broke one law, which was impossible for man to do. He died for us because we couldn't honor the law. Leviticus does apply to Christians. It is the ten commandments..We are still held to that law. The big difference is when Christians sin, we have forgiveness because of the blood of Jesus, which washes us clean. That is why " there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus." We are still to try to obey the law. Jesus said, " We are to love the Lord with all our hearts, with all our minds, with all our strength and love our neighbor as ourself we would be fulfilling the law of Moses." He didn't say to ignore the law, he said to fulfill the law.

I don't completely agree with this statement. Humor is a much needed gift in times of distress, etc. I believe being able to uplift someone through laughter is a very real positive trait and gift. However, how Carlin handled it I will agree that it was disrespectful. That's why we can turn it off and know he's not in charge of us, nor we in charge of others that do love him. I'm going to assume your definition of blasphemy is directed towards going against God Himself and not a generic term so I have nothing to say about that.

Correct, Blasphemy is rejection of the Holy Spirit aka God. Yet, scripture teaches God is also a forgiving God!

Fred Phelps is a certified wacko - he speaks only for cult members that choose to follow him rather than Christ. Anybody that says a particular person is in hell" is a fool - only God knows who is in hell. Everyone else should worry about following God's law so that they themselves do not end up there.

I wouldn't wish hell on my worst enemies and I certain would not want George Carlin there either. May he rest in peace.

i'm sorry about his passing and i did think he was funny about some things, yeh. but not when he started cutting down God. that was just stupid! after that, i had nothing for him. didn't before that to be honest. i don't understand all the people that seemed to put him on a pedestal after that. like they're praising what he said. a very quick witted and fowl mouthed man, but funny.

  • raves +3   [-] by Ellen
    yeh.......

that's what he was..... equal opportunity, even with Christ! lol!

do you think he's patting himself on the back for that now?

God is a forgiving God as long as one ask for it. That can be achieved even on your death bed.
  • raves +3   [-] by Bitwise (McCain/Palin)
That is true. As with everyone who passes on we hope and pray that Mr Carlin is forgiven all of his transgressions as we ourselves would like to be. May he rest in peace.

  • raves +3   [-] by Ellen
yeh, i think that's true with so many people.

doesn't matter if their in our lives or on tv or what.
your heart has to go out to his family, especially if you know how it feels to loose someone and if you have a relationship with God.

when i say "you".... i mean.... "we". ya know what i mean, right?

He was my husband's favorite. I took him to see Carlin one year for a birthday present. He did have a bit of an issue with the "F" bomb, but he was very funny.
