Don Imus in trouble again?

Don Imus in trouble again?
I heard on the radio earlier that Don Imus is in deep waters again after making yet another "racist" remark towards a football player that just happens to be black. Apparently, he asked another host what color was the football player, since he just happened to be reported of running into trouble again...as usual. Do we really need to take this seriously or just let it die?

Personally, I don't care. Second, I didn't even know who Don Imus was, until he was in trouble the first time. Third, hypocrisy anyone? I'm sure had Don Imus been black...not much would be said...and when I mean, "black" I mean not to what's considered by some as, "white washed". (And, no, I'm not a racist, so don't pull the racist card on me...I'm just saying).

And, now, look at whose the first one to protest about Don Imus's comment...Sharpton. I'm not even surprised.

NEW YORK -- Don Imus, responding to criticism about racial remarks on his radio program, said on the air today he was trying to "make a sarcastic point" about unfair treatment of blacks in the criminal justice system but had been misunderstood.

Imus resurrected his radio career six months ago with a pledge to mend the wounds caused by a racist and sexist comment he made about a women's basketball team.

This morning he said he was following the spirit of that promise by calling attention to the unfair treatment of blacks — in this case the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones.

"What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason," Imus said today. "I mean, there's no reason to arrest this kid six times. Maybe he did something once, but everyone does something once."

He called the flurry of criticism surrounding the comments "ridiculous" and said that his program's cast is now more diverse than ever — and includes a black producer and two black co-hosts, a man and a woman.

"How insane would I have to be? What would I be thinking?" Imus wondered aloud.

The latest comments by Imus to come under scrutiny were aired on Monday's broadcast. During a conversation about Jones' run-ins with the law, Imus asked, "What color is he?" Sports announcer Warner Wolf said Jones — formerly known as Pacman — is "African-American." Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."

The on-air exchange came months after Imus' return to work on a new show on WABC-AM following his firing from MSNBC and CBS Radio for calling the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos."

When he returned to work, Imus gave a lengthy on-air apology and pledged to use his new show to foster an open dialogue on race relations.

Co-host Karith Foster, who is black, came to Imus' defense during Tuesday's broadcast, saying, "People who interpret what you said as racist clearly didn't hear the whole thing, and they don't know who you are and what the program is about — and they obviously haven't been listening."

WABC and Citadel Broadcasting Corp. Vice President Phil Boyce said Monday that it was unlikely the broadcasters would take disciplinary action against Imus.

This is nothing more than a witch hunt by a bunch of cry babies that want to play the race card, how can you hold Don Imus's feet to the fire on this when we have a Presidential candidate who refers to his own grandmother as a typical white person and associates with people like Rev. White Hater Wright. If the US really wants to do something about racism lets not support a racist for President.

Personally, I am not one of Imus' biggest fans, but this is a non-issue. Imus did not saying anything racial and those who think that he did are the ones who get offended at the drop of a hat. I've listened to his show since he came back and he has employed every PC dictate that could be imagined. Imus is a target moreso because he is a mainstream supporter of McCain. Any mainstream supporter of McCain is considered a turncoat.

People are racist all the time, and we aren't out busting their balls. You can't just target some of the people for being racist, its either all or nothing.

What a bonehead. I heard the comment, and I don't think it was racially motivated, but you'd think after all the trouble he got himself into last time, he'd shut up about race and color.

At first I would agree with you. However, now, I think people are just looking for someone to hang (whoops) and Don Imus just happened to be around. I do find it kind of odd that America is not outraged by most of the mainstream rap and hip hop musicians (I consider crap) that just happen to degrade their own community and women; however, go off on this old fart's question.

We should throw a black rapper (whose lyrics just happens to degrade blacks or another group of people) into the boiling pot and see the results, I can promise, it would rather be quite different.

    Can't argue with that

Somehow, I'm starting to think maybe people are taking his comment out of context. I'm rather undecided on this subject.
