Answered Yes, for acts of rape.

I'll include rape in ALL kinds of rape (against children, women, even men). I think someone who viciously rapes somebody's wife, or daughter, should be killed. The thought of it even happening to the people I love makes me angry enough to imagine that I would want somebody who hurt them in this way dead.

Answered No, I don't support the death penalty.

At all. If someone has done something so horrible, death is more relief for them then years and years of suffering. Death is a release, it relieves them of all responsibility and lets them go free. People who commit murders, or rape, or whatever deserve to suffer. They do not deserve the freedom of death.

yes, its cruel and inhumane, but look at what they have done! what made them do it, is themselves. You are responsible for your actions, everybody wants a fair trial, everybody just wants! these people who commit these crimes want! now they are going to get it! our prisons' are over crowded, we are basically taking care of them, every tax payer! maybe someday we can all get along!

A government with the power to kill its own citizens can and will commit the ultimate tyranny of misusing that power. So no, I do not support the death penalty.

laws should be passed so that criminals must pay for the rest of their lives,if need be,for their crimes against victims. pay prisoners a fair wage. part of their pay should go for room & board, some for rehab once released, the rest to the victims & if prisoners refuse work they don't eat. sorry aclu, butt out. hurt them for life in the wallet. then future criminals will think twice.

Answered No, I don't support the death penalty.

Unless we ever know the inner workings of the mind 100%, or that folks are guilty 100% killing is wrong. Killing is essentially wrong no matter who the culprit - criminal or criminal justice.

Yes, for heinous crimes against children and treason.I know this won't be popular with the ladies, but there have been times when men have been falsely accused of rape,so I'am not sure if ALL cases of rape should carry the death penalty, otherwise I could accept it.

Even the Godfather knows better-telling Bonasera,"That's not justice-your daughter still lives!" Never tip justice's scales! Eye for an eye!Life for a life!
The one crime I hesitate over is not childrens' imputed "innocence" but the selling and espionage of "atomic secrets" generically. Not for the foreign spy, he is just doing business and can bring political benefit in trade, but the traitor citizen who gave away the whole house and who could well have the blood of an entire generation upon his his/her hands. Of course this lends itself to hysteria-as with the Rosenbergs- and the giveaway would have to be clearly substantial-as with Klaus Fuchs. But ultimately those who make such weapons must expect to endure the "usual" dangers such as spying.
So no, I do not wish to break "eye for an eye" for non-wartime spying. In wartime, War, that is ,declared by "WE, the People" as provided in our constritution and not some kook executive's idea of a fun time as in 'Nam or now in Iraq.

Answered No, I don't support the death penalty.

If an argument for the death penalty is "an eye for an eye", then these crimes wouldn't apply because no one was killed and it wouldn't be the appropriate punishment. These are absolutely horrible crimes, but I don't support the death penalty.

Rape, treason, torture, ruining someone's livelihood by theft, slavery, involvement in drugs, involvement in prostitution (it views the person as an object to be used just like in rape, only the "object" is consenting but then so do those who use illegal drugs), permanently injurying someone. I'm sure there are more.

For crimes of this nature, That person should be handed over to the childs parents. Lethal injection is far to quick and far less painful for the likes of these animals.

Its a difficult one, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance, if we fail twice and do something awful, rape, killing etc! Then I agree with the death penalty! But unforntunetly many innocent people have been killed that way!
