Is it Politically Correct to Say "God Bless America"??
seriously I am a Christian and an American- and with July 4th less then a week away. When we say God Bless America- are we not also asking God to Bless the USA and Dam the others.
Years ago I heard a Pastor giving a sermon- about a mother who had a son in WWII- she never prayed to God to save her son - but to save and protect all sons- on both sides.

This is America. You, like anyone else, have a right to say what you wish. If someone is offended by the phrase, "God bless America," they should grow thicker skin.

I am agnostic and I say "God bless you," when someone sneezes. I have had one person complain. I told them never mind go ahead and die. The person stopped just a second then started laughing.

You can't live your life worried about what other people might or might not find offensive. Treat them as you would like to be treated and deal with the overly sensitive ones as they arise.

However, I do recognize that, implicit in all such thoughts is the one which says ... "and damn or at least ignore the rest". Why would a creator of all select out your gang over the others? This isn't a matter of PC, mind you -- it's just logic. I've got no problem with the phrase (or the song, for that matter, which is a fine one). Just with taking it too seriously, I guess.

Please- Please- I didn't ask nor say anyone is getting offended- I am simplyasking- in a philosophical way- if by asking God to bless one thing- are we then ask God to dam another- as my example of the mother of a soldier-
not asking God to protect her son in war- but to protect all sons in war.

I don't find anything wrong with people saying... doesn't make my skin burn, and I don't melt like a witch getting splashed by water. I just don't say it, nor do I feel the need to pledge my allegiance to the U.S. flag several thousand times. I did it once and I think that's sufficient.

I honestly don't care about being politically correct. I am American, have a right to think what I think, and I have freedom of speech. So if I want to say God Bless America, I'll say it -- no matter where I am.

If you believe in God then you should ask him for his support. If you believe in any higher power I think it is the right thing to do. I love that the mom prayed for all the sons. I pray for the ones on the other side as well.

This country has gone mad, and this is just another example. Now we don't want to offend anyone by saying God bless America? Other countries will be offended because we didn't bless them too? I don't give a damn what other countries think, I don't care what athiests and Muslims or anyone else thinks -- God Bless My Country!!!!! The way things are going, this country desperately needs to be blessed.

Perhaps SOME people consider it un-PC these days (whiny liberals), but we have free speech.

As for isn't it saying "GD everyone else"? No, it's not. It's just saying, "Bless us especially." God doesn't have a limited amount of blessings to give out... It's not like if He blesses one nation, He can't bless anyone else. Asking Him to bless yours is perfectly okay, just like it's okay for anyone of any other nation to ask Him to bless theirs.

Our country was founded on "Godly" principles, and our money alludes to that fact with 'In God We Trust'. God can imply many different religions so I don't see a problem.
What I think we can ALL agree on, is it is poitically, morally, and patriotically incorrect to say God damn America!

I don't think it's a matter of Political Correctness at all. Say it or don't, it a matter of choice.
