And if they are 'lucky' like I was, they can have a nice Mommie Dearest wielding a heavy handled table knife and crack you across the knuckles every time you use your left hand at the table, until the skin splits, often enough to make you *want* to be right handed. (shows scars) -
Answered There is help for those who want to change and be right handed
You are indeed genetically assigned whether you are left or right dominant, i.e. handedness. However, you can always train yourself to be otherwise. Hand dominance is easy to change, though eye dominance and other facets of left and right dominance are much, much more difficult to shift. -

i swing a bat and a golf club left handed, and do everything else right handed. i wasnt self taught or whatever, its just the way i stood when i picked up a bat vs the hand i picked up a pen with. way more comfortable taht way :] -

But, if when I have a child it's a boy, I'm going to do everything in my power to try to make it left handed....Left handed pitchers are the most sought-after ball players out there !
Oh, and yeah, I get it. LOL -

kids can't help the way they were born. i myself am lefthanded. as a child i was beaten, made fun of,and was told i had a mental problem all because i was lefthanded. my teacher used to hit me with rulers on my hands, stand me in the hall, and one even made me go to study hall because i was the only one in the class lefthanded. i kept bumping other classmates and it was disruptive! didn't change me though, i'm still lefthanded, not mental, and now no one laughs! ain't life great???????
