Best Cars: Which country builds them?

Britain has long produced some of the world's most luxurious vehicles, including Jaguar, Bentley, Rolls Royce. Germany is well known for engineering. The Volkswagen is popular worldwide, as is BMW and Porsche. Many feel the Italians do it best, manufacturing the Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Alfa Romero. Japanese cars are quite popular for their dependability, including brands like Toyota, Honda, Mazda, and Mitsubishi. The United States continues to produce high end vehicles such as Cadillac and Lincoln.

Italy - any one that contradicts that is just full of nonsense. And you forgot their BEST car - the Bugatti:

Sure as hell not Lincoln, Cadillac, and Chrysler, America sucks at "luxury" lines. But the base brands like Chevy, Mopar, and as much as I hate to say it, Ford.

Buying foreign vehicles over the past 20 years has finally helped put thousands of AMERICANS out of a job. Too bad folks didn't pressure the AMERICAN auto companies to satify the AMERICAN public.

We did. We said build a better car, one that won't fall apart and one that gets good gas mileage. We said build better or we buy elsewhere. They didn't, we did now they bitch cause we bought someone elses car. Have they gotten the idea yet.... GMC trucks (Don't even bother putting the mileage on them anymore, last time they posted it 17 mpg in the city 21 on the hwy) a year ago. Guess NOT!

The Bugatti is French, and German owned. They are a subsidiary of VW, and produced in France. The W16 engine is actually 2 Audi V8s stuck together plus a lot of other hardware.

Bugatti was founded in Molsheim, France as a manufacturer of high performance automobiles by Ettore Bugatti, an Italian man described as an eccentric genius.

The original company is legendary for producing some of the most exclusive cars in the world as well as some of the fastest. The original Bugatti brand failed with the coming of World War II, like many high-end marques of the time. The death of Ettore's son Jean was also a contributory factor. The company struggled financially into the 1960s eventually being purchased for its airplane parts business. Today the name is owned by Volkswagen AG who have revived it as a builder of very limited production sports cars.

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG = BMW

Bavarian Motor Works. Bavaria, Germany

The blue and white center seal for BMW was taken from the blue and white diamonds of the Bavarian flag, Bavaria (like Texas in the U.S.) is a state in Germany that can succeed from Germany if it chooses to. Lots of unique history, people and delicious food. Some pretty awesome cars too.
