Yes, I know. Unfortunately, they are interrupting anything with the word white or black as racial. Father Pfleger is an advocate for justice and anit-racist advocate, just as Jeremiah Wright. Neither of them lie in regards to racist conditions in our society. The problem is white folks are very uncomfortable discussing racial issues---because those are issues they do not encounter everyday of their lives. Race is not something you are aware of.
-
So, that is the problem; their words have been taken out of context by the news media?
I wasn't aware of it until I came to Arkansas to live. I am a New
Zealander, and that country has not history of slavery. In the neighbourhood that I grew up in, my sisters played with Pacific Islanders, and Maori children. (Maori's are the native people of New Zealand.) One of my best friends was a Maori. My parents taught us to love all people, no matter what race they belong to. Over here, some of my best friends are African Americans. -
I believe it is also a cultural issue. Ethnics are very comfortable in discussing racial issues because we have been the target of racism and the disparity in this country. Racism is not a subject whites in this country openly discuss and surely not as often because it does not directly affect them. Therefore, the discussion is one of disease and they "interpret" it as racist. Now, many whites believe just to call them white is racist when they is what they choose to identify themselves and it has been normal behavior to say "white folks." Go figure. I believe it is just another form of manipulation to control ethnics and get them to stop discussing racism and the effects it has on our society and ethinics.....esp blacks.

I just wanted to thank you for your comment about racism in your country and how you were unaware of it's effects until you moved the the United states. I believe that is what you imply when you spoke of slavery and the history. The Whites in the United states seem to believe each country practice racism and it is not true. Other countries usually experience issues with religion or class, but not subjagation a race of people to control society, government, housing, etc.

Kayr...its obvious that you are a liberal and in love with Obama and what he stands for..and you are very much intitled to this..but in debating you..its obvious that your response is of that of a true Obama/Wright supporter. Good for you....
However, Obama, and his church are not good role models, and its very obvious that any and every race IS NOT REPRESENTED!! AND THEY DO NOT HAVE BROADER VIEWS...this is all I am going to say. -
Dave,
The church has members of all ethnic groups including whites. The church is predominately black because of it's location. No anti-white sermons or speeches were given in the church. It may not be a role model for you and "whiteness," but it speaks to issues in the black community. Something you are unable to relate too. -

only if you want your children to learn its ok to do drugs when your young, its ok to sleep with the same sex for drugs, its ok to deny half your hertitage
, and only if its okay to be racist...does this sound like a good role model -
Yet he is still winning by a large margin..
Why?
Because 90% of the people voting for him.. when asked why they are voting for him... They answer:
It's just time for a change. Let's see what he can do...
When asked do they agree with his policies and his stance.. they answer:
I'm not sure what he stands for ..
Yet they would still vote for him..
This is why and how America can be manipulated by NIgerian emails..
This is why people can come to our country and hijack planes..
This is why the wealthy have to carry the nation..
This is why the government can mismanage our money, and America does nothing about it.
This is why the government can keep passing bogus tax increases and America does nothing about it.
This is why.. -
Excellent answer Super! I am so afraid of him becoming the next President. People just do not see, but you said it all, or most of it anyway. Young folks are voting for him because he is "cute"? What the hell is up with that? Just wait and see, if he is elected, we will all be on Soda Head bitching about our taxes going up, crime going up, welfare for all who "ask", and another terrorist attack on America.
They are not sure what he stand for because he has not said what he stands for. Change? What change is he offering?

Preaching to the choir, are we? It is a lot easier to tear someone down than to intelligently discuss issues, isn't it? But then that tends to happen a lot these days, both sides have their comedians who, for whatever reason, seem more willing to be sophmoric than mature. Please continue, you are not harming Obama, both the Obama detractors and supporters have already made up their minds. Foolishness such as this will not sway either side's opinion. Hopefully, those yet to decide will be able to recognize hate, prejudice and racism when they see it and choose not to follow that path.
