1400 fires in California. 1400. Prayers for California?
I'm shocked and sad. last count I heard around 800. last night the news said 1400. I'm in San Diego so I'm fine but Northern California is really hurting. We just can't tackle all those fires! how can we? most are just burning without intervention. But we are doing what we can. I'm just hoping and praying for the best...

Evacuate and let the fires burn. They will stop when they run out of fuel. It is nature's way.

Based on the clear blue skies in my neck of the woods (Sonoma County), things are getting better than they have been. Or the winds have changed direction.

And I'm living here in central California, the Basin fire burning in Big Sur jumped the fire line today and many more have been evacuated. Many of us are having coughs and burning eyes because of the smoke in the air. As summer progresses the heat will rise and the fires will probably get worse. I love living here and I hope not too many people get displaced, but wild fires happen here all of the time. It just sucks when they are caused by people...

I've lived in California all my life up until a year ago. I do know the media exaggerates the fires, but it does sound pretty bad.

my family live in Humboldt county and are suffering from the smoke. But the loss of homes, animal habitate, and probably death of domestic animals and wildlife really saddens me tremendously.

For the "dreaded" climate change to take place and make California as wet as Michigan. No actually, I shouldn't because we've been having severe storms lately.

I'm from San Diego and those fires are kind of fun! Well, unless you get your house burned down. In which case it sucks and you might wan t to pray for the people that are really hurt by them. But if you not one of them, it's fun!

I know how all these people must feel. We had the Witch Creek fire last year (in Southern Cali) and the Cedar Fires in 2003. My prayer are definitely going out to all those in Nor Cal who are suffering and worried.

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope everything worked out for you.
We weren't effected last year but in 2003 I could see the fire from the hill around the corner from my house.
It's a very scary thing to experience.

I am NOT Saving I am a believer, but in the religion of Santeria, the believers think that their deity Chango, God of Fire is responsible for these fires. The FIRST THING I WANT TO SAY.........SANTERIA IS NOT BLACK MAGIC or DEVIL WORSHIP or EVIL. It is an Earth Religion and their Gods have been represented by Catholic Saints.. VERY Misrepresented in movies and Television. The Black magic is practiced and used called upon by practitioners of other types of religions like real Voo Doo, palo mayombe, and the like. This is NOT about practitioners of palo mayombe, who are called - mayombero. And by the by, when you watch these specials on TV about Voo Doo in New Orleans and these women or men claim to be voo doo Priest or Priestess. THAT IS SUCH CRAP! No true practitioners of Voo Doo would ever bring attention to themselves by telling such things on TV. A true voo doo priestess powers are real and quite frightening. You don't ever want to seek one out and you bloody well won't ever see a true Marie Laveau decedent who can work a spell telling about it on TV. Back to Santeria Changó may be - Sango, Xango, Shango, He is the God of thunder and lighting. Chango has been offended and has sent his lighting bolts down as penance. He is a major deities and very feared. He is all powerful and must be appeased for this to stop. These Gods are based on Catholic Saints, he is St. Barbara. To be disrespectful you would have to be sitting down talking out-loud and Invoking ( to call for with earnest desire; make supplication or pray for) his name. There is NOTHING silly about THE Relgion Santeria.

Poor people. But does this not happen every year? It would be good if something could be done to slow it all down or stop it. Hey maybe if we denuded the entire area so there was nothing to burn? Nah then it'd rain and there would be mud slides. Sorry little humur in the midst or tradegy. but cerally folks i cannot imagine how awful it must be for those people affected. My heart truly goes out to them.
