Answered 18 - When you're an adult you're old enough

Pick whichever reason you want - old enough to vote, old enough to fight in a war, old enough to get married, old enough to adopt children, old enough to drive a car, old enough to smoke cigarettes, old enough to go to prison for the rest of your life... OLD ENOUGH TO DRINK ALCOHOL.

If you're old enough to go to war you're old enough to drink. And honestly I don't want to drink I just think that's the way it should be.

Really hard call on this one. The only reason I picked 18 is because most 18 year olds are drinking illegally any way. whether they steal it from their parents stash or whatever they are already doing it. It was 21 when I was growing up and I lived through it but like I said we knew how to get beer at 18 so???

Answered 21 Years Old - the law is right now

I wish you would have given me an option that was a different answer. I do believe the law should remain 21 years old except that it should include men and women who are members of the armed forces between the ages of 18 and 21. If you can serve this country, then you should be able to have a drink.

I am torn between 18 and 21 being that you are a legalized adult at 18...able to join the army... able to vote... a liscensed driver.. able to sign off on things or even leave the country without parental provision. However I think 21 is a reasonable age, being that it's more of a maturity age,and I believe that it now being the set law in America for the proper age, it should stay the law. reasonable age maturity ageand law america proper age stay law

If you're old enough to vote, drive a car, work a full time job, pay taxes, and go to war, I think you should be allowed to drink.

In germany you can drink beer from 16 and hard liquor when you turn 18.
I agree with the law, but it isn't enforced enough. I constantly see new articles in the paper about 13 year olds drinking themselves into a coma and dying.

If you can be sent to fight and die for your country, you might as well be allowed to have a beer.

I agree with the current legal age. Not that at 21 you are the most mature, but you're definately more mature than at 18.

Answered 18 - When you're an adult you're old enough

If you are old enough to go to war, fight for your country with great possiblity of dying or being maimed for life then you are old enough to drink.

Age does not necessarily bring wisdom. Look at those in their 60' and 70's that are stupid enough to drink and drive, or brawl with others when they have a few drinks in them.

I think that if you are old enough to go and fight and die for this country run in to a burning building you should be old enough to have a beer

But I think it depends on how old you ACT, as in how much responsibility do you practice.
  • raves +1   [-] by Stix
Yes, but what about the 30,40,50,60, and 70 year olds that act like fools when drinking. If you are going to decide on who drinks by how responible a person is you are going to have to look at people of all ages. That would be inviting the government in to test you "being the government it would be at cost to you, the taxpayer, to see if you are a responsible drinker.

Teach kids from the craddle on that you never drink and drive. And no second chance if you get caught drinking, just take the license for a year the first time, second time 5 years, and if there is a third time goodbye drivers license forever. Get caught driving without it, automatic jail time.
  • raves +1   [-] by Girl, Interrupted
You actually only furthered my point. When I stated "But I think it depends on how old you ACT" that meant ANYONE at ANY age.

Drinking and driving isn't the only danger related to alcohol. There is rape, abuse, black outs, etc. That is why I say we should base it on how old someone acts, not their age.

By the way, 30, 40, 50, and 60 year olds don't always act their age as well.
  • raves +1   [-] by Stix
You are tottaly correct. Yep I know people of various ages who act like fools. Thumbs up to you. tottaly correct yep people ages act fools thumbs

drinking in college is bad enough, and we are always sad when our students are killed by drunken behavior. Why invite that into our highschools? We have a tough enough time keeping them in school.
