JC...It doesn't taste like beer. It tastes like liquid pumpernickel bread. The beer is so rich you almost need to chew it a couple of times before you swallow each sip. I have a beer every couple of months when I have either pizza or homemade tamales.
  • raves +6   [-] by JC-McCain/Palin-08
Yes I remember, so you concentrate the whole month's worth in to a couple? lol I'm going to try it. I had dark beers before but never that dark.
  • raves +7   [-] by Kiber ~ McCainiac since 1999
JC...Nope. I only drink one beer. I've never had more than one drink in a setting. I'm a light weight and don't tolerate alcohol very well, even when I've eaten.

I was stationed in Germany for nearly 7 years so anything German or European is great. However, this beer is not sold in the U.S. but if you want something that will get you tore up try Park Pirminator if you visit Germany. You have to make sure this beer is really cold when you drink it or it will taste crappy when warm.

One of my favorites is called Kilkenny but you can't find it here in the U.S.

Basically almost all the great tasting beers are overseas.

do you know this tasty one? It is brewed close from my hometown.

I have heard of it but I don't think I had the opportunity to drink it. However, if it is like most Pilsners in Germany I bet it has a good smooth taste with a good amount of hops and flavor.

I had Kilkenny ale when I was in Ireland. It's made by Smithwick's ...and they sell that here. I didn't think there was much of a difference...but I'm not exactly a beer coniseur.
  • raves +2   [-] by CoreyG
I haven't seen Kilkenny here but I should check to see if they have Smithwicks at a specialty beer store. I forgot that Smithwicks made Kilkenny and It should taste very close if it comes from Ireland and not brewed in the U.S. The last time I had a Kilkenny was overseas about 4 years ago. And.... I loved it!

The U.S. just waters down the beer and it lacks big time. I will definitely have to read the label to make sure.

Thanks for the comment and info!

Not sure where you live...but they sell Smithwicks in Vermont, Connecticut, and New York that I know of. And it is brewed in Ireland...not in the US. That's what my sons drink.

I live in DC but there are some specialty stores nearby in Virginia and Maryland. I usually check with those stores first and ask if they know of any distributors in the local area. But... I do want to thank you again for the information and the help. It is much appreciated!
