Some were making $60,000 - $100,000 a year. They won't go back to work unless they will make the same amount money. They are used to living in that type of money bracket. Would you go to work if you had to at McDonald's, or Target, Or Sears just to make things meet or for Health Insurance?

I am in that situation. I was a manager for a store that sold both linens and things, and due to piss poor upper management, they are now in bankruptcy. I took a job that was a dramatic cut in pay, but has the potential to far exceed my former salary in the next year. I noticed you mention Target and Sears in your description. Maybe they weren't the best choices to use, as a Target store manager can make up to $170,000 a year and a Sears store manager can do up to $125,000. This is base salary before any bonus. -
You are correct, I used stores off the top of my head. But, what I meant was if no management jobs were available and they would have to take what they could to make ends meet. I had a friend who worked for Sharper Image which is in bankruptcy. Not sure were he is going yet. But, you are 100% correct on that.

Answered None of the above
Eventually they will have to find a job... but it might be smarter to spend time looking for a job that is commensurate with their education, ability and experience instead of locking into a low paying job...at least in the short term.

but I have to say I'd try everything to get a similar job first, then probably wait until the unemployment benefits were about to run out before I did...
