I used to work in a mental hospital here in Maine and
there was this incident where there was just that, 2
mentally ill adult patients found having sex and we
were told that it couldn't be stopped because they were
adult. He tore her apart because of his size. Was not a
good thing. What is you opinion?

I do not agree that it should be allowed but I do know that in group homes today it is allowed. Depending on the severity of the retardation, does this retarded person have the wits for safe sex and birth control, are they responsible enough to have children, those questions would all have to be evaluated before I would say yes its ok. -

Regarding your first option, my knowledge of genetics can best be described as non-existent but I didn't think it was a given that two mentally ill patients would automatically conceive a mentally ill baby.
I guess it would depend on the level of mental illness. I mean there is a difference with not being able to cope with the stresses and strains of modern society and being crazy as a loon. If both adults in question were able to make rational decisions then I guess they have a right to have sex as much as anyone else. If they are living in their own little universe they probably should be restrained from such activity. -

I would think that a hospital could certainly have a rule that bars patients from having sex regardless of their health status and that a violation of the rule could resort in being removed. What kind of mental illness do they have, are they capable of making a decision even if they are of lagal age? Many people suffer from mental illnesses and are responsible, producive members of society. If we barred people with bi-polar, depression ot anxiety disorders there wouldn't be much sex going on. -

then you know just how strong they are in all aspect. His
manlihood was extremely big and he ripped her insides.
She might as well have given birth to a 11 lb baby. This
was way back in the late 70's and all the parts are not
as clear to my memory but I remember it was bad. -
In this particular situation he did have the upper hand.
He was physically stronger than her and she ended up
being a mess, but it was some of the other workers
who wouldn't stop the action from going on. I think they
thought it was just funny to watch or something.He was
totally taken advantage and hurt her bad.

This is nearing on Eugenics. Deciding on who is worthy of having children and who is not. This is what Hitler tried in his Eugenics experiment in trying to make the perfect gene pool.
