John McCain's new campaign says that he is no Bush. Do you agree that Bush and McCain are different?

This is the best strategy in this election I have seen since Obama's "Fight the Smears." Is about time John McCain fights back about what people mostly judge him for, claiming that he is Bush's 3rd term. John McCain and George Bush have a lot in common, but these two Republicans have also had some high profile differences, and McCain's presidential campaign is more than willing to point them out. From climate change to his first calls for a surge of U.S. troops into Iraq, McCain has not always seen eye to eye with President Bush or, for that matter, other GOP leaders on issues of policy for the better part of the past decade. His open defiance of the Republican establishment has helped to bolster his image as a "maverick" lawmaker willing to shun party loyalty and obedience for personal principle. And seeing that this election is likely to be won by the candidate who successfully attracts the most support of uncommitted independents, expect to hear more about the McCain and Bush differences in the coming months.

"We feel like that is a record that must be given attention every time Barack Obama falsely accuses John McCain of running for George Bush's third term," said Nicolle Wallace, a veteran Bush operative who joined Team McCain in May. "There is no truth to that."

Maybe, but he will follow the same policies. Their basic platforms are the same. I think they are more alike than you think.
  • raves +1   [-] by ThePersonBehindTheDesk
Their policies are different though, and how they deal with issues is different . McCain isn't going to have the same situations that will lead to the same bad decisions as Bush made. He's in a whole different territory.
  • raves     [-] by +Brave+Black+Twilight+
But in new situations, if they react in similar ways, McCain will act the same ways as bush. He may not get a 9/11 but he might get something else. McCain doesn't want to associate with Bush because it will bring him down; doesn't mean he isn't like Bush.

All any fair minded person with no bias has to do is look at the many issues they are far apart on, and know they are very different in many areas! The two areas they tend to be closest on in agreement are Iraq, and illegal immigration, and all the left can see is IRAQ so that is all it takes for them to say they are the same......I am not crazy about McCain, and if I decide to vote for him I will be holding my nose. But I sure as heck ain't voting in a socialist like Obama.....what is so ironic is democrats are democrats and will follow the party line, and platform pretty much the same way republicans or any party will do, if that were not so then why have lables at all?!

Answered No. McCain is another Bush. We are not blind.

I admire the man for his service record. He has a long way to go convincing me that he genuinly gives a damn about what is important to me. What I do not admire about him most is that even after Bush burned he and his family down in 2000 he still put his nose where it should not be behind W. For that I cannot forgive him. He is not the only politician that would say or do anything to get thier foot in the door, but I don't think he brings too much to the table except his desire to be king.

Don't look now but your stupidity is showing along with your bigotry. People who judge others as incompetent due to age are bigots. You are indeed a moron. I pray you actually live to that age and that no one says anything as stupid as that about you.

I actually thought that this was one of the best strategies to sway public opinion:

  • raves +1   [-] by Gunny
When her boy grows up and wants to joing the military, is his mommy going to say "No"? Nobody is talking about taking your child against his will. What a stupid commercial!
  • raves +1   [-] by sundance
I think you're missing the concept.
She's wondering this pointless war is going to continue for the next 2 decades until the boy is old enough to fight.
As well the concept of sending your child to fight in a senseless war.
  • raves +1   [-] by Mike
You are right. It is pointless to try to stop terrorists in their back yard before they get into our back yards and kill children like this little one. Whoever wrote and produced this piece of crap needs to spend a couple of years with victoms and families of victoms of terrorists. I can think of some 3,000 Americans they can start with. Think, Sundance, don't be such an ass.
  • raves     [-] by sundance
Your hurling insults at me is very mature. Good job!
The point of the commercial is to get bat-wing republicans out of office asap. The war has gone on far too long. Delaying a war from occuring in your backyard and preventing one are not the same thing. This strategy isn't working.
We ALL lost a lot on 9/11. I live in NY. I lost neighbors. If you want to buy into everything you see on the news tell, if poorly planned action is better than no action in your mind....I feel sorry for you.
  • raves     [-] by Mike
Don't feel sorry for me because of my beliefs. I am a six year decorated Marine and served in Viet Nam twice. I know about evil in this world and have witnessed it up close and personal. I know wherof I speak. My family has a long and proud history of service to this nation. You need to get a bit thicker skin, sd. I would not trade insults with you because as far as I am concerned, it would be like dueling with an unarmed man.
  • raves +1   [-] by TexanInHawaii
Sundance....we don't send our "child" to war. Our ADULT offspring decide, for themselves, to VOLUNTEER for a profession in the military. Big diff.
  • raves     [-] by sundance
Absolutely. I should have said kissing your child goodbye as they leave to go fight in a senseless war. Good catch.
  • raves     [-] by Mike
Just keep drinking the leftist koolaid, sd.
  • raves     [-] by sundance
    I'm just thinking for myself.
If my conclusions don't correlate with your own, (or that of your political party), so be it.
I'd like to enlist in the Army next year, although I don't necessarily support every action taken in the current war. That goes in line with what I believe; I can support our military and our history without agreeing that every action we've taken along the way was right. I don't doubt that we are doing some good things over in Iraq.

Thank you for your service sir, I do sincerely appreciate it.
  • raves     [-] by Mike
I don't do this very often but I apologise for the tone of my post to you. I thank you for being a true American and wanting to serve. Good luck and God bless.

It looks like Obama has become Hillary. Playing dirty tactics that won't get him anywhere. Let's face it, America votes for the ones we feel sorry the most.

Just because they're both Republicans, doesn't mean they're the same. I wish people would do a little reasearch before they started spouting off catchy phrases like "McSame"
