Why is Barack embarrassed about Americans that can't speak a Foriegn language?

There was this little thing called a World War, that when the United States entered, we finished the job and saved many countries from Germany. Anyone with any brains know that Europeans are required to learn English so that someday when they meet an American, they can thank them in our language. The second reason is that if and when some Europeans decide to leave liberal Europe and come to the United States, they will be better prepared to be successful knowing the language. Certainly, there are thousands and thousands of Europeans leaving Europe to make a better life in America. I don't see the reciprical happening. When I served in Germany, the only words I really knew were, Ein Beer bitter. Barack is a disgrace to America and to the Democratic party. Im sick of being denigrated by him.

Answered Obama is a disgrace to America

I always thought Barack and Michelle were a perfect couple. She has only recently become proud of the U.S. because of the fact Barack is running for POTUS. They'll have a perfect marriage after McCain becomes POTUS. Michell can go back to not being proud of the U.S. and Barack can remain embarrassed of the U.S.

I feel the same way. The immigration issue is a real tick her off trigger for me. THey need to do is round them up then deport every last one of them. And none of this holding them and doing the court thing. Send them back as soon as they are caught. I am sick and tired of the illegals having more rights and entitlements than the American Citizens. With Obama it will only get worse. We will lose this country's sovereignty under him.

Lady Bear, great post. You know what else irks me? As a teacher I had to take several classes in order to learn how to teach ESL students. That is English as a second language students. No I do not have to know how to speak fluent spanish, I just had to be taught how to teach to ESL students. Now, the area I teach in does not have any ESL students so I don't have to worry about it but my point is the all the classes were geared towards teaching hispanic students. Oh, they try and tell you that is for teaching all ESL students but it just so happens that all the examples were of hispanic kids etc. We bend over backwards to accomidate the spanish speaking students. But since I teach in America and I speak English it annoys me

I am not a teacher and it more than annoys me it downright Pi..es me off. Every where ou look we are printing things in both English and Spanish, call a company or worse yet a government office and you get press 1 for English. They want our entitlements, jobs but the don't want to learn the nations Language and then you have some that instead of flying the American flag they fly the Mexican flag I am talking about a business in NV then there was the High School in CA that flew the Mexican flag OVER top of the American flag which they flew upside down. How are the other students suppose to learn when you have to teach geared to just the ESL students? And we wonder why our kids are coming out of school stupid. Thanks for sharing that with me.
  • raves +2   [-] Elle (Always for McCain) replied to lady bear
Lady Bear, as I stated the district I teach in does not have any ESL students, however it does take away from the other students when you have to teach for the entire class and then go spend time w/ the one or few that do not understand. It leaves the teacher w/ less time to teach and less time to focus on the English speaking students who may need additional help. Any school that chooses to fly any flag above ours should be fined and they should lose their gov't funding. That is shameful.

    Answered Undecided

not undecided, but given the other choices... I heard the speech Sen. Obama gave and agree with him wholeheartedly. Sen. Obama was illustrating the fact that most Europeans are educated to speak several languages compared to the majority of U.S. citizens who struggle with just one. Europe is drawing together and creating a strong economic force to be reconed with. They are not doing it to accomodate any occupying force, but to further their own livelihood. Many Europeans have a far better life than here in the U.S.A.,and if you'd get that flag out of your face, you just might be able to recognize that. You delude yourself if you think that most Europeans want to come here. It's all well and good to be patriotic, but that's no substitute for a living wage, clean air, drinkeable water, and a safe neighborhood. Speaking of WWII, do you realize that it lasted fewer years than the ongoing Iraq war? It's nice that you survived your service in Germany. I survived my service in the Pacific. So what? Here and now, today, it's time for a change. I don't need a retreaded bush administration and neither does the United States.
  • raves +10   [-] lady bear replied to motvet
Doesn't sound to me like you care very much for this country you feel that the europeans have a far better life than we have here. My advice to you would be move there, If you want their way of living then go there and don't force it down us who still want to keep the Constitution and our country sovereign not like the EU. where the countries all answer to one body. The change we need is someone who TRULY believes in the Constitution namely a Ron Paul or one just like him. You evidently missed where he specified the other language we should learn should be Spanish. That isn't learning any 2nd language. There is a whole big world out there so why is he catering to the hispanics? He is doing it to try to win over their votes nothing more.
  • raves +3   [-] harrisa replied to lady bear
I hope he tries that over there in Iraq when he goes. Try telling those guys they can't speak a foreign language. There is not a one of them over there that have not learned to speak some Arabic (or whatever), and some fluently. If he wants us to learn another language seems like that would be it since we have an interest there with our soldiers on the ground about to be embroiled in yet another war over there, the third one, ongoing.
  • raves +3   [-] moe replied to harrisa
should our soldiers need to do anything more than squeeze that trigger, our congress isn't working hard enough.

lady: blind fatih is not patriotic. blind faith is gullibility. how much time did you spend in the military. i spent six years, and with two good conduct medals and one honorman certificate. but, i'm sure you'll find some other way to discredit my patriotism, and try to negate the fact that for those six years, my life was on the line and at the service of my country. europeans do have a better educational system than we do -not all, but in aggregate. No one is catering to hispanics. sen. obama is seeking votes. that's what candidates do. comprende? hisapanics, blacks, whites, women(of any race), orientals, american indians (for lack of a newer pc term). go ahead and rage about something i forgot or the way i said it. it doesn't change the fact that sen. obama first will get elected by by bringing his message to all americans, and then implementing the very needed policies that he's delineated. rely-on second hand information all you want. there's lots to illustrate the type of amusement and thrill that is available on this site. work yourself into a lather from ill-conceived rumor, hyperbole, conjecture, and supposition all you want. you are hurting yourself.
  • raves     [-] lady bear replied to motvet
I never said anything about blind faith being patriotic, I remember saying I believe in the Constitution. Also I would NEVER put down or try to discredit anyone who has served in the military. I feel our veterans deserve our thanks, gratitude and respect. Do to health I could never have served but that doesn't mean I don't care for those who have or are serving. And if you will accept it I would like to Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service.
I do realize he is pandering for votes. The problem is we really don't have a clue as to where he really stands. I also do not agree with amnesty I know McCain is thinking amnesty also. Securing our borders and getting the illegals out is a very very important issue for me. If you want to stick by him Then that is your choice and in this country we all have that freedom so far. I personally can not vote for either him or McCain. I don't trust either of them and I don't agree with a lot of what either has said. I'll close by wishing you the best. By the way Thank you for mentioning the American Indians. They are so often the forgotten people.

I dont know where to start. Im certain others will chime in later. Let me start off by saying I don't know where you get your facts from. But Americans don't struggle (Wait, let me move that flag away from my face) with the English language, unless of course you are talking about all the immigrants coming to America (Both legally and illegally) Im quite certain you havent been in very many places in Europe post Euro. I have been in the smallest of towns and cities in France, Germany, Italy and theres not even a comparison. If it was such a wonderful place to live, I can't believe you aren't there. Im also quite certain noone said most Europeans want to come here. Lookinf at simple statistics would tell you that there are far more Europeans coming here, than going there. You are proof of that. Wars that are fought nowadays, are not only fought on the main lines, but also with idiots such as yourself and other liberal scum that seek to destroy America.

And drinkable water. Do you realize that they warn you to not drink the water when entering France. You're a riot

So before you accuse anyone of having a flag on their head (Let me once again move my flag) put your money where your mouth is and leave the United States. Practice what you preach.

For one thing you were the one praising how great it is in Europe. NOT me. I am NOT in any way shape or form a liberal. There is nothing I value more than this Country and our Constitution which if this moron gets in we won't have anymore. I have never nor do I ever care to been to Europe. Wait one exception, I would like to go to Fatima in France. Strictly for Religous, faith reasons. Just where by the way do you think I am from that you say that I am proof of europeans wanting to come here. You don't know Jack Shit so I will not continue to give you anymore reason to spew your hatred.
  • raves +2   [-] Elle (Always for McCain) replied to matty507
Matty, motvet is clearly a moron. I too liven in Germany, however it was pre Euro and they do not have it half as good as we do. I am glad you moved the flag off your head in order to really put it to him. You did a great job and I wish I could give you a 1000 more raves.
As far as the drinking water goes in Germany, they don't drink their tap water. i cannot tell you how difficult it was for me to get a regular glass of water w/ out bubbles in it. This was before bottled water was all the rage, well they had bottled bubbly water, which I hated. So, my husband and I lived in a small German village and a few, not many spoke a few words of English, so I asked them how I should ask for tap water. They couldn't hardly figure out a way to tell me, it was unheard of. I had several words to choose from and I will tell you the waiters gave me the strangest looks. One of them said it was like I was asking for toilet water. Hopefully that was a joke. But he said that during WWII Hitler had told them not to drink the water because the Russians had put poison in it. So that is one of the reasons they did not and still do not drink the water.

I really appreciate your support here. I was getting really really pi--ed off.
That is wild that they are still clinging to what Hitler had told them. you would think that they could have tested the water to see if it was ok. I really don't ever see myself going over there. I don't travel well at all these days.

you have got the flag in your way.maybe several. which flag do you pledge allegiance to, if at all? you let your prejudices and ill-concieved notions keep you from making informed and logical decisions about this particular presidential race. (typically, republicans use patriotism to lure voters away from the real issues). no one is going to force you to change your mind. it's your choice to rely on heresay, conjecture and supposition. you can , alternately, choose to get information first-hand. vote your conscience; you're the one that has to live with it. at any rate, feel free to rant further. oh and you may wish to do some research about where your ancestors came from. you might be speaking russian or chinese today, if the bearing straits hadn't dissipated. i'm not a european, i'm an american citizen. born and bred. are you? are you aware that if sen. obama can get others in this country to think less along racial lines and more along what's good for this country, then things just might be better for "your people" as well? i'm not going to challenge you to practice what you preach, because you obviously do. you seem to be prejudiced, intolerant, have alot of unresolved hatred and anger. you allow your emotions to cloud your judgement. i challenge you to consider both sides, rationally and as impartially as you can. and with that, i'll leave you to your "thoughts".

Motvet, Perhaps WWII war lasted less time because America was actually behind the Pres, and didn't hold protests and didn't vote down funding the troops while they were in harm's way. When the Pres. is not allowed to actually run the war and instead has to fight the Dems every step of the way, things tend to run slower. Not as much gets done. Not to mention many Americans have decided that they should be privy to the most classified of documents. The media is constantly releasing info. that should never be heard by most people. They threaten the security of our nation to sell papers or get higher ratings. During WWII that would never have happened let alone been tolerated. Everyone was working for the good of our country, not against it, everyone was doing their share for the war effort. Now, why don't you get on a plane, fly to Europe and shove the flag pole where it don't shine.

Answered Obama is a disgrace to America

Because he's an idiot who hasn't thought things through and considered the practicality of teaching foreign languages to people who can, in many cases, barely speak their native language.

I LOVE other languages. I love hearing them spoken and learning to speak them, and I wish I had the resources to do it more. I do, however, think it prudent to speak the language of the country one resides in, so if it's an immigration issue, it should be them learning English instead of every sign giving instructions in 6 different languages and every person having to speak at least 3. Only in high-tourist-traffic areas should effort really be made in either written signs or a few words in spoken language, because that would benefit shop owners in the area who might attract more tourists that way.

    K, I'll stop rambling now.

Answered He's so ashamed of himself that he needs to cut down other people to make him feel good about himself

Like most elite politicians, Obama has been living so far above the rest of the country that he has no concept of reality. He knows that he has contributed nothing to society. Like Kennedy, another elite out of touch politician, he longs to spend taxpayer money to make a lasting legacy for himself. Unfortunately elite politicans no how to spend taxpayer money but not how to do anything worthwhile.
