Politics - United States
Are you in favor of illegal immigration?
All I can say is that I believe that our borders should be secured.Perhaps you have already made up your mind about our illegal immigration and border laws. In case you have not, there is a lot of information out there on this important American issue.

I am most certainly against illegal immigration. As far as solutions go I am not in favor of rounding people up and expelling them from our country. We need the government to show greater interest in our national security and finally secure our borders. As for those who are not here legally, I say weed out the worst in terms of criminality and lacking productivity. If it is their wish to become unhyphenated Americans then a process should be in place for this, after the flow has been stopped. Of course not all illegals are coming across the Rio Grande, but most are. Action must be taken against the current situation that serves primarily to funnel currency out of our country and provide laborers for exploitation from those who do not wish to pay reasonable salaries. I figure if unemployment is at 6 percent and the population is roughly 300 million then roughly 18 million Americans are currently unemployed. Based on this, the higher estimates of the number of illegals in this country that I have heard are above the number of unemployed. I've heard estimates as high as 20 million and low as 10 million. The most frequently heard has been roughly 12 million and this number is quite significant. -

Illegal is ILLEGAL. Immigration or any other criminal activity falls into this category. Illegal immigranst have no U. S. rigts in spite of those put forth by
Judges that legislate from the bench. When apprehended, send them back where they came from. -

I live in Texas and the illegal immigrants have doubled my living expenses for health care, insurance, taxes, and school. In Texas our school taxes have almost doubled to educate illegal immigrant children, but the education has gone down so badly that now I have to enroll my children in a private school so I have to pay for school taxes and tuition. The emergency rooms are so over crowded with illegals demanding free health care for sicknesses and not real emergencies. They cannot be refused treatment. My son broke his arm and we sat there for four hours while I saw an endless line of non-english speaking children and adults go in before my son. So we went to a 24 hour private care emergency room and had to pay more to get treatment. My car insurance has doubled because they do not carry insurance. They have been dumping unwanted animals by the thousands in neighborhoods so our animal control and SPCA facilities are over crowded and over worked. I saved a puppy that I saw a truck of hispanics throw out while moving and then ran over it before my very eyes. Of course I could not leave it there so it cost me a several hundred dollars in vet bills and now am keeping the dog because I cannot find a home for it. I am sick and tired of our politicians thinking that this country can continue to absorb these ILLEGAL people and pay for their, housing, education, healthcare, social security benefits. Common sense: We cannot afford it anymore!!!! -

my mom was in a car accident and found out that the guy that hit her had no insurance, no license, nor was he here legally, and the cop [this is twisted stockton pd for you] told her that if she didnt report it, he would see to it that her car was taken care of.
and yeah a litter of kittens was dumped in the middle of the only road out of our town, there were several hit but i managed to grab to two that werent.
my aunt was in emergency care one night, and since she had downs syndrome and it was a genuine emergency, we had no problem getting her in, but we sat in there for hours, and watched a 90 something year old woman have a stroke after sitting in the waiting room for several hours, with her assistant pleading for them to take her in. but no, who got called, one after the other? take a guess. -

The thing that gets me so steamed is these politicians and Geraldo Rivera that have not lived in the real world since they were children, who live in the fantasy bubbles, with people telling them what they want to hear, (like all these hollywood types who have not bought their own groceries, ect.) are trying to tell us to be compassionate, "they just want a better life for themselves and their family" Well my grandparents came from Ireland and had to go through Ellis Island and be processed for diseases and criminal records. What is so wrong with that? They are just pandering for votes!

Absolutely not! This country has too many problems to be in favor more illegal acts. If a person wants to live here permanently, he or she needs to come here legally, learn the culture and LANGUAGE, and start a new Life. Immigration needs to be moderated here and everywhere ... otherwise, who's to say we won't have hardcore psychotic murderers, pedophiles, drug lords, etc. coming here to further destroy the United States. (Not that that current administration hasn't done a good job at that, already!) -

This is not a yes or no question, but given the choices offered, I chose NO. However, it is totally unrealistic to send back the millions of people we allowed to remain here illegally to their countries....Some have assimilitated, become part of our culture, bought homes, created small businesses, etc....How do you tell them they have to abandon their properties and leave the country, which received them, allowed them to prosper, had their children here, built an entire new life to pack up and leave. I am not smart enough to pretend to have a solution to this complexe problem, but do think it would be unamerican, unfair to expulse law abiden citizen citizens who live here simply because our governments failed to do their job, in the first place. I am all for sending back any and all illegal immigrants with criminal records, period. The government needs to do a much better job on the employers who keep hiring these people, they do it to exploit them, no insurance, no overtime pay, they keep the social security taxes since the employees do not have a ss number, in some cases do not even pay minimum wages.....The problem will remain as long as there are greedy employers willing and ready to break the law to make a quick buck at the expense of those who come here, illegally. -

just be legal.
i live in a small small small small farming town,
and no lie, the population doubles during cherry season. so many illegal immigrants come to pick cherries (not meant to be racist at ALL, its the complete truth).
they cause a lot of problems. if you leave your garden hose in your front yard, they pull it to the street and use it to shower. none of them speak english, and they fill up our classrooms (usually about 15-20 kids per high school class) to about 30-35 kids. they are alllllll on the free lunch program because they cant file for ANYTHING.
they live off of our welfare, even thought theyre not even here legally. there are elders that cant even get medical help or just assistance living because so much of our money is going to illegals.
i live here,
and im proud to live here,
but there are some quite pathetic aspects of the US. -

yes i do
hey it's america's fault! if they want to keep their border wide open then the immagrants who want a better life WILL take the chance to come over here and get a better life in this country! even if it means crossing over here the hard way and the "illegal way".
yes there is another way to get to america but who the hell likes to wait like 10, 20, or even (in ma grandparents case) 40 stinking years????? i sure dont.
AND PLEASE IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY PPL THAT ARE NOT IN FAVOR OF ILLEGAL IMAGRANTS, AND JUST WANT TO TALK SHIT BACK TO ME THEN DONT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL BACK TO THIS COMMENT
~~THANK YOU~~ -

They should apply for legal entrance just like everyone else has to. In other words, if you are illegal, go apply and get in the back of the line.
