Answered Yes, way beyond the border and on my own "tour" to...
Manzanillo, it was great. Everyone was nice and I had a geat time. I try to go there when ever I can. Great surfing there too. The people are all very nice and the scenery is just amazing, I highly recommend going there if you are looking for somewhere in Mexico to visit -
Answered Yes, way beyond the border, but to typical tourist traps...
I often Venture into the Outskirts of the Typical; In my own country as well.
Small Cities and Towns from TJ to Mexico City, Up and Down Coastal "Traps"; Pacific and Sea of Campeche.
Would like to see more...It has much to offer.
Locals tend to be very Hospitable if your not Threatening. -
You know, I honestly hated my first day back in the states. People were rude, impatient, haughty, and a laundry list of other things. It made me so angry seeing someone NOT being helped when they should have been--I exploded on a Lowe's worker. He had it coming. Anyway, I think people could stand to learn a lot from Mexicans. Time is important to them--but it does not rule them. People are important to them. Relationships--not just what you can get out of someone--are important to them. They are collectivist culture versus our individualist. They're more genuine on so many levels it truly puts Americans to shame.
That's why I'm looking forward to going back, but as a Peace Corps volunteer when I graduate. -

Well, the border is totally different than the interior and the tourist traps are totally different from the various and excellent "western communities" situated throughout. The pot was good in the 70s and the women are pretty today. I like that corruption is above board because it seems heartfelt and honest compared to ours in NA. I think it is a wonderful place full of very good, friendly people who are exactly the way they behave: without pretense. But it remains, by and large, an extremely poor country and is very different from even the most rural US area. Thats my impression.
