I hit a big dog with my car on a backroad. I went back to have a look and it was still alive. I did not know what to do because I had been drinking, so decided to put it out of it's misery. I was going to run over it again, but as I got to it, it jumped up and tried to get out of the way, so I barely hit it. I tried to back over it, but again it would not hold still. I finally took a crowbar to it, hitting it over and over untill it died. Did I do the right thing ?

that story is sick! seriously! there are other ways to handle that situation! there are a number of things in that scenario that are not only wrong but illegal, and i hope this gets to the proper authority. i hope someday someone has mercy on someone you love and show compassion when they need it. just for being so dumb...i downraved you! seriously! -

You did not mean to hit it. It was suffering, and you were in an isolated area. It's not the act that counts, it's the compassion behind it. Perhaps it might cause you to think about drinking and driving. I would have tried to get the dog to an emergency vet. But know should judge you lest they be judged. We all act and react in infinite ways. One does the best one can.

If a dog is hit by a car and has no chance of surviving...just take it out.
Ignore the emotion driven posts as people need to get a grip with reality. If I were to see a dying animal, even with guts spilling out...I'm going to knock it out of its misery. People attempting to save a tortured animal that's dying are rather demented (and not the good kind). -
Well no, I actually started to answer the the poll with some degree of conern for you, but as i read on and saw you were joking and the heat you're taking it got me to wondering if it was the dog, the drinking, running back and forth over the dog or the clubing?
I my self have put down wounded animals and would find the information from the poll interesting. -

OMG I hope that you are just looking for attention with this question and that this is NOT a true story!... If it is true, you should be the one hit with the crow bar, I would like to know where you live so I can come do the rest of the world a favor by removing you from the gene pool... NO you absolutely did not do the right thing and you know it other wise you wouldn't be looking for approval.. oh and don't forget to post back with your address
