Answered Drums!
As a drummer, I can't take the side of another instrument. However, I do like the bass too. Drums and bass give the song rhythm and depth. Without them, the song is not a song, but rather a flat screech that hurts my ears.
Who's this guy? Only one of the greatest drummers I've ever seen live on stage: Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen of Nightwish. The guy makes Lars Ulrich seem like a slowpoke when playing live. -
You gotta go with what you know and feel comfortable with.
Nightwish is a band from Finland. Their music is sort of heavy metal meets goth meets Finnish tradition. Their former vocalist is a classical trained soprano. =)
Here's a little taste of their sound.
Keep rocking.

Answered Guitar!
I guess it depends really, but the guitar has always fascinated me :)
There is no real band without a drummer, unless there's an amazingly exceptional bassist who can cover for the drums (which is highly unlikely), or if the keyboard is used as the drums (which is kinda weird to me). But the keyboard is really cool too, especially in melodic death metal, power metal... In Children of Bodom, their keyboardist is amazing!
Vocals are unnecessary in a band, although they make the music more enjoyable sometimes. Sometimes they make the music less enjoyable, for example Bruce Springsteen. I really like Bruce's music, but sometimes I wish he'd just shut up and let me hear the instrumentals XD. And Children Of Bodom, once again. I think their music is awesome, the guitar and keyboard solos are fucking amazing... but the vocals I don't really like. But on the other hand, HIM has an awesome vocalist with an awesome range. He makes the music a lot more enjoyable :). Led Zeppelin has an amazing vocalist, unparalleled XD... but I'd like Zeppelin just the same without the singing. Wow... I'm saying way too much XD
Peace!
