we need to change the laws so that women can't say no to sexual advances?
just kidding..
honestly, what can we do about this? We already know that the military will do whatever it deems necessary to protect their own, even if it means allowing known predators to continue violating the rights opf women who choose to join the armed forces..
One would think that the people who give their lives to protect our country and freedom would be a bit more disciplined, and have more self control...
I think a solution to this problem might have to be, allowing civilian police and detectives investigate alleged crimes, and put the perps on trial in a civilian court...
it would only take a handful of cases before these actions decrease.... I won't say that it will stop completely, but since the men in the military might be tried and sentenced as civilians, they might think twice about committing these crimes....
no woman should ever be forced to participate in sexual acts... doesn't matter if they're military personnel or prisoners in jail... (and of course everything in between.) -

First check these numbers. One in three seems to be a little off. Then check the facts, see what's reported, what's not, check the circumstances and go from there to design a prevention and enforcement of rules and laws that would punish perpretators. Takes time and courage but if I know Americans, it can be done. -
raves Aug 01, 2008 09:31PM GMTI just called a friend of mine in PA, she is in the Army, ans she said she has not heard anythinga bt that, she has been in 26 yrs. She said there are a couple that was selling themselves and got caught and yelled rape, but after checking the back accounts and all the large deposits that were made, they were given a discharge for conduct unbecoming an officer....
So go figure
Maybe this is where they need to go work -

People need to listen to those women. I saw a story that a woman was raped from a military officer back when she working for the army in Iraq. The courts didn't even listen to her case until more than 6 months later. They're allowing criminals into the army when they really shouldn't. It wouldn't kill them to check their criminal record. -

The military needs soldiers desperately and are allowing criminals of all sorts into their ranks. Rapists probably raped before entering the military, and most likely have some sort of criminal record. Their past lives should be scrutinized; and, if allowed into the service anyway, the one responsible for allowing them into military should be held responsible. Whenever someone needs to takes responsibility for some things that go wrong in the field of education, there's a humorous response, "It's the principal of the thing!" This is so often true. Remember President Truman's statement, "The buck stops here"?
Rape is not about sex. It's about power--power and control over another human being. Rapists are sick people who rape over and over again in an effort to gain some power in their lives, and they are rarely, if ever, cured. The military probably would never allow individuals who have other kinds of emotional and mental illnesses into its ranks, but they continue thinking in terms of the behavior's being a moral issue. Regardless, innocent people need protection and separation from them--somehow. -

People in the miliatary need to be held more accountable for their actions, and stiff penalties applied. The criminals need to be dishonorably discharged, or fired from the armed forces, and spend a few years or more in prison. Keeping girls out of the Armed Forces is not the solution. That would be a big backwards step for women's rights to equal opportunity, equal choice of career, etc. Perhaps very regular, mandatory education for the females on self defense, and policies that deter, and prevent sexual assault, and rape. Young men also need to be educated on how to prevent, and successfully fight of a rapist. -

I suppose castration would be going too far, but certainly encouraging anyone who is sexually assaulted (males obviously can be too as well as women) to report incidents and make potential assaulters aware of the penalties & that stiff actions will be taken. -

I heard this before even as long ago as 20 years. We have reporters who go undercover to see how people live in Korea and reporters who go undercover to see whats going on with gangs,or how about celeb stalkers. You think one of these kinds of investigators would look into this. -
raves +2 Aug 01, 2008 04:01PM GMTAs a veteran.....they do posing as fellow soldiers, sailors and marines ...and for all reasons....sexual misconduct, drugs etc....the problem is....thats a very high number of cases compared to the number of women in the service...more will come out on this if the press pushes hard enough, and then wait for the "two step" by the politicians and high ranking military personell to dance around it. Token heads will roll, and the problem will still exists....just covered up better.....The military world is different to say the least, especially overseas in war time...secrets abound

I think I need to understand the report better, this is not just military, these are women in the military, but this does not state that it is our military men doing the assault. There is a crisis in this country due to the sexual overtones in everything we watch. You cannot turn on MSM without being assaulted by girls half naked parading around. You also see girls having sex with whomever, whenever. Women and men must start making a difference in their childrens lives, say NO to allowing your young children to see and act like this. We are the consumers, if we do not buy and do not allow our kids to act like this we will see a change. Boys are shown girls acting like whores on TV, they see girls ACCEPTING the fact that they are treated badly, we have to teach our children not to accept this, and we need to be the example, do not put down each other, do not talk about other people in front of your children do not make blanket statements about people in front of your children, suspend your hateful thoughts for a while, and it is amazing what can happen. -

Ummm, I know a few officers who are female, one in personnel, and have been on the job for 20 plus years. We talk and I don't think this story is true. Obviously, I could be wrong but I think a better stat here would be a third of rapes are reported. Thats a cultural problem in the service. Like probably a third of all assaults of all kinds are reported. -
