Back To School Fashions: School Uniforms vs. Loose Dress Code?
One of the biggest controversies over school dress policies is whether schools should employ a choice dress code, or mandate school uniforms. Each side has their pro's and con's and can effect a child's education. School Uniforms lessen social tensions between students, whether it be for lifestyle choices or economic status. However, allowing for a looser dress code allows students to have a sense of individuality, and allow for self expression. In certain areas, school uniforms have helped stop against gang related conflicts, promotes education and releases the pressure of having to find something of fashion to wear in the morning. But, many students may choose alternate schools due to having having an enforced dress code mandating school uniforms.-

I went to Catholic school for 12 years, including four years of high school where we had to wear uniforms. School uniforms definitely help promote education in that you are not focused on what others may be wearing.
However, the downside of wearing it -- especially in Catholic school where girls could only wear skirts is that they can be uncomfortable if it is cold out. Also, they can look old-fashioned.
Dress codes on the other hand leave too much room for manipulation. And I think it is better with uniforms that everyone wears exactly the same thing so that no one thinks about what the other person is wearing. -

I think school uniforms would go along way in keeping kids' mind on learning and not what others are wearing. In some cases it would solve gang related problems. There's plenty of time for a kid to express himself outside of school. It would also save parents a lot of money,
