Did Nancy Pelosi block a vote on offshore drilling to help Barack Obama?

"For weeks, pressure has been mounting in Congress to approve more domestic oil drilling, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has held the line, using her power to block a vote on offshore drilling.
Even some Democrats are getting antsy, fearing the party's stance could hurt them in the fall elections. But Pelosi, who has opposed offshore drilling throughout her two decades in Congress, insists opening new areas to drilling won't lower gas prices in the short term. She believes a vote would only help the GOP blame Democrats for high gas prices."

I think she (and the other liberals in power) have been trying repeatedly to starve the country into a democratic president. Just look at the farm bill, which they've kept adding Iraq stipulations onto, knowing the president won't approve of it. Do they care about the farm bill itself? Hell no. All that matters is disagreeing with the president and trying to make him look even worse. -

There is no doubt that a multi-millionaire like Pelosi couldn't care less that the average American is getting hosed at the pump...She and the far left storm troopers from MoveOn.org want to shield Obama from showing the American people where he really stands. All his empty slogans and meaningless speeches won't be able to save him from the verdict of the American people in November: NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT!

i don't think this has anything to do with obama. pelosi believes she is doing the right thing. she is a conservationist. she is attempting to bring this to our attention. this does have to do with further discrediting bush. -

No, Pelosi is just a super daffy female idiot. I cannot fathom why the people in California keep re-electing her. She's actually hurting the Dems chances of being inthe presidential and congressional elections. The people of this country are fed up with her stupidity. -

I do not feel that Polosi is thinking about the future period. Even if it is not an immediate solution to the gas shortage which is causing gasoline prices to inflate, it will eventually help. What is wrong with her? She needs to be replaced. -

This is the kind of "democracy" Obama's presidency will bring forth.
Regardless of the issue, how is it even possible, in a democratic country, for one party (the DEMOCRATS, no less) to block a vote? This is SCARY stuff, and people had better wake up and acknowledge this blooming dictatorship! The democrats will make life so much more unbearable than it already is for those who complain about low wages and high prices. -

The answer to your question is BOTH. Nancy Pelosi is the WORST Speaker of the House in U.S. history. She bitches about everything. 79% of the American people SUPPORT Offshore OIL drilling. Everyone supports drilling except Pelosi and Obama. Pelsoi and Obama need to wake up and get with the program. There are more of us than there are of them on this issue and it's overwhelming. Pelosi, forget about protecting Obama and start trying do your job and part of your job right now is to protect the American people from having to spend hundereds of billions of dollars on oil from the middle east. Pelosi was one of the first to advise Obama to run for President and she is protecting her puppet. She wants to be the most powerfull woman in the government and did all she could to help Obama win the nimination by using her influence etc,. with other politicians to push them to his side. She couldn't stand a Clinton victory because she knew she could not push Clinton around like she will do with Obama.
