Did Nancy Pelosi block a vote on offshore drilling to help Barack Obama?

"For weeks, pressure has been mounting in Congress to approve more domestic oil drilling, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has held the line, using her power to block a vote on offshore drilling.
Even some Democrats are getting antsy, fearing the party's stance could hurt them in the fall elections. But Pelosi, who has opposed offshore drilling throughout her two decades in Congress, insists opening new areas to drilling won't lower gas prices in the short term. She believes a vote would only help the GOP blame Democrats for high gas prices."

actually, I just think she doesn't care about anyone but herself.
the Dems claimed Newt and the 'contract with America' congress was overbearing, But, that Congress did confirm more justices than this congress.
Pelosi and Reid made it plain when they took office, they were 'going to rule' and have been showing their attitude in their actions.

He is pushing hard for everyone to get on Pelosi to DRILL NOW! If we only had Newt Gingrich and NOT that beast Nancy Pelosi we would all be much better off. The House would actually be gettting some important things done for this country instead of $4/gallon gas and left wing propaganda everywhere you look. That is why Newt Gingrich will go down in U.S. history as one of our GREATEST Speakers of the House and Nancy Pelosi will go down in U.S. history as our WORST Speaker of the House.

Pelosi is a left-wing liberal ass, and yes, the Dems ARE to blame for the high gas prices...they have been in bed with the nutcase environmentalists for decades. Had we been allowed to drill off the coasts years ago, we would not be sending all our money to people who hate us! And the Dems in Congress have the nerve to take their "summer vacation" without voting on the energy bill! I hope it backfires on them! We, the people, are getting tired of paying out so much of our paychecks just to fill up our tanks! -

Nancy confirmed the continuing blockage by the Democrats to stop us from beginning to solve our energy problems. The Republicans will eat this move alive and show the consistent Democratic blockage of energy solutions by Democrats. -

I like Obama but he is way off on not lifting the ban on domestic drilling. Pelosi is silly and seems to think we cant drill our own oil, protect the environment and research alternative fuel at the same time.....we can and should. BTW China is drilling just 60 miles off our Florida coast, whats wrong with this picture?? -

This is a very possible answer but I think it goes more to her own extremely liberal 'save the earth' thinking. Does anyone know if she flew her private jet back to CA or flew commercial? By the way, her stance seems more like that of a dictator rather than a Speaker of the House. -

I think now we know the deal between them. She didn't want to get out in front of his announcement today, therefore the delay. Now that he's come out and said that drilling is ok, you should see a change in the wind on the hill. -

She knows that dropping a pipe FIVE MILES deep before you hit mud...and then starting to drill is a disaster waiting to happen. Or perhaps she knows that the only ships capable of drilling that deep are tied up for the next five years anyway. Perhaps she knows that it will be at least 20 years before any of that deep drill oil gets to the surface...if it ever does. Perhaps she knows that it won't effect the energy situation NOW at all...and does very little in the short term. -
