Politics - United States
A "CHANGE" WE CAN BELIEVE IN?
PLEASE READ THE ARTICLE BELOW BEFORE RESPONDING.I received this today... and it appears to be worth passing on to those of you here on SH for your comments. Please be civil......
"Change to the American people. Political.
All the politicians running for president are promising change to the American people.
We (the American people) send them billions and billions of tax dollars and they send us the change.
Funny?
Not really; there is too much truth in it to be funny.
That got me to thinking ... They all promise change. How about if they run on a promise of restoration rather than change.
A restoration that would take us back in time to a place where things ran better, smoother and life was more enjoyable.
Change? That, in truth, is what they have been giving us all along.
We used to have a strong dollar ... Politicians changed that.
Life used to be sacred ... Politicians changed that.
Marriage used to be sacred ... Politicians are changing that.
We used to be respected around the world ... Politicians changed that.
We used to have a strong manufacturing economy ... Politicians changed that.
We used to have lower tax structures ... Politicians changed that.
We used to enjoy more freedoms ... Politicians changed that.
We used to be a large exporter of American made goods ... Politicians changed that.
We used to be an openly Christian nation ... Politicians changed that.
We used to teach patriotism in schools ... Politicians changed that.
We used to educate children in schools ... Politicians changed that.
We used to enjoy freedom of speech ... Politicians changed that.
We used to enforce LEGAL citizenship ... Politicians changed that.
We used to have affordable food & gas prices ... Politicians changed that, too.
...and one could go on and on with this list.
What hasn't been changed, politicians are promising to change that as well if you will elect them.
When, oh when, is America going to sit back with open eyes and look at what we once were and where we have come to and say, enough is enough?
The trouble is, America's youthful voters today don't know of the great America that existed forty and fifty years ago. They see the world as if it has always existed, as it is now.
When will we wake up? Tomorrow may be too late.
When will America realize ...
Politicians are what is wrong with America?"

raves +2 Aug 17, 2008 10:04AM GMTThe extremely funny part is that we know this and continue to put them in office... because it is not about a "service to this country or its people"... it is about having someone in a high place to help you out when you need it.... We have lost sight of what this land was... and what it was meant to be....
Thanks Sierra... you know I really do appreciate having you stop by. -

HERE IS THE REAL REASON...
OVER MY DEAD BODY I'LL VOTE FOR HUSSEIN OBAMA!
I do not want a socialist president such as Barack Hussein Obama leading my country.
Therefore as a DEMOCRAT I will NOT vote for Barack Hussein Obama because I do not want SOCIALISM in the USA, and my vote will be A PROTEST VOTE for McCain. -
raves +1 Aug 13, 2008 03:52AM GMTThanks for stopping by Lou... I do appreciate it.
And... I like the way you phrased "A protest vote for McCain"....
At least you are thinking and researching in order to make an "informed decision" and not just jump on the media hype wagon....
Good to have you here.... -
raves +2 Aug 16, 2008 01:51AM GMTNo... It is called taking back America....
Once all the political thiefs are out... find the common every day humble servant of the people...by the people... and, for the people and let them handle things...
They need "terms of office" so that they do not look at it as a way of life to line their pockets...
Hope that clears it up for you..... -

the only way to have true change is to change the government and the way they do business. starting with those life long political jobs!!throw them out and only one term for each person and you might see change because the government will have to actually do some work for a change! -

I am with you Shadow. I don't want them changing anything else. Put it back the way it use to be or, at least, as close as it can be. America has really gone down hill and before you know it...we will be another third-world-country just full of poverty, because all the wealthy people will have moved to other countries. Like all the industries are doing now. -
raves Aug 10, 2008 02:30PM GMT (edited)I think this has been my point all along...
I think it is important for America to have the morals and values it had... say 50...60 years ago...
When if you were wrong, people told you. Today, it is all about not hurting someones feelings.... Well... sometimes the truth hurts...
When one or two kids gave it their all. Today, it is all about everyone getting a trophy for doing nothing more than showing up. It diminishes the hard work of those "few" who gave it their all.
When a lia was a lie. Today we have little lies, white lies, and acts of omission. They are still lies dressed up to look like something they are not... "The Truth".
When people had a backbone and worked their way out of problems. Today we have a pill to wake you up, make you smile, make you sleep, and alter an otherwise clear view of your life... but no backbone.
American politicians need to put a tariff (fee/tax) on any business that sends it's goods/services outside America, and a tariff on anything coming into America from other countries.... just like other countries do to us. Maybe then our jobs would stay here in America... There used to be great pride in the label... "Made in America"... Today all we have is junk from Japan, China, etc.
America will not change until we tell t...I think this has been my point all along...

America will not change until we tell the politicians that it MUST. Until the "average" American stands up, wealthy politicians are left to govern themself... and they have.... and that is why we are in the shape we are.... Write your elected officials... Do not be bashful!
Thank you for responding Pet. I do appreciate it.(less) -
raves +2 Aug 11, 2008 12:35PM GMT (edited)I agree, there should be a "tariff" fee placed on industries that do not have their business, here, in the USA. As well as, businesses that send their work outside of the USA. We all need to start supporting the country we live in. But lets be honest, not all goods that come from Japan or China are junk. That is the truth and that is why a lot of businesses have taken their work out of this country. Americans have got to start producing the same quality of goods, that these Asians countries do. So work will come back here. The quality must be good or people just won't buy it. Quality has always stood the test of time no matter where it was produce. So Americans have got to start taking some pride in what they produce and make it stand out above all the rest of the countries. After all, we all want to buy products that last a good long while, don't we?
So I believe this is how America can make itself be strong again, by taking pride in what we produce in the factories. -

Where can we find stewards...instead of politicians? We crown these guys 'little kings' give them a life of royalty and put them in charge of spending 'more money than god has.' Is it any wonder...
The lifestyle attracts meglamaniacs, greedy, power seeking people, that want to be 'little gods.' Meanwhile, back home a humble man with all the RIGHT qualities to do the country good goes unnoticed. -
raves +4 Aug 10, 2008 02:54PM GMTWe have got to find a way to make our voices heard. I am sick and tired of these people acting like we are just a nuisance to their lifestyles. I want term limits and I want way less pay so that people will not make a career out of serving the country. The federal government has so lost touch with why they are there in the first place, that nothing but a clean sweep will be acceptable. This has got to end, we have to be listened to.

raves +2 Aug 10, 2008 08:28PM GMTStart contacting your elected officials... All of them... Keep sending the same message... every day... twice a day... three times a day... till you get a response...
Send your message to your elected officials to your local media, and, absolutely, to the not local media....
In less than 7 days, Tyson changed it's contract. Big business understand and listens when you tell them it will affect their income.
The voices of WE THE PEOPLE can be heard.... all the way to the moon and back... if we just get up off our duff... -

Nice post shadow, but I do want change and a lot of it. I want every position in Washington changed now and no later. I want them all out. A clean sweep, total change.
