In "Bad Ol' Putty Tat" (1949), Sylvester manages to temporarily lure Tweety with a fake female canary (actually, one of his fingers with a hat and painted-on eyes). Also, male canaries sing and females do not. Further, Granny refers to her pets as males.

I think He... I mean She... I mean... You know what im trying to say is a male. I'm a female and I'm not trying to take sides it's just I watch Loony Toons and I happen to think that in one of the episodes of Baby Loony Toons they said that Tweetie was a He.
