Religion - Christianity
Do the insane evangelists who constantly scream that it's the end of the world make the rest of the Christians (myself included) look like a bunch of whackos?
Shouldn't we be presenting a religion of inner peace. I'm am sure these loonies have driven many people away. It is NOT the end of the world.-

Some Christians think they have the end down to who, where, what and when. I find that amazing that they believe they can pinpoint this by reading the bible, as Jesus told his followers, no, not even the angels in heaven know, so what would make any Christian presume to know. I have seen numerous accounts by some that claim they know this who, what..etc;etc. by Revelations, but if they are true believers in the words of Christ, they should know they are speculating, as many have done for many, many years. Why would any man claim to know this, when not even Gods angels know this? -

I personally do not care what they think but I have had to deal with people comparing me and my faith to people screaming hte end of the world. It gets old. Not all Christians feel this way. Just have faith.
...besides...there is nothing that we can do anyway. -

No I don't feel it makes you all look like wackos at all. Certainly there are some Christian wackos just as in all faiths/non faiths. You Christians aren't all bad, in fact I'm crazy in love with one!!
There are always a few that reflect poorly on the many in any group. -

Christinaity has mutated throughout the years...I think that there are those that will take one verse from the Bible and preach it like they know what they are talking about...however they have neglected to read the passages before and after....i think that holy rollers hurt the christian msg. I think that it is a good cause, just not one that I am into. -

Christianity is drowning in it's own sense of superiority which is like a theological imperialism over the world as it contends over its minds with guilt and coercion. It's come to the point that most people can't define Christianity without it. -

I have been on many occasions approached by said 'whacko’s' and I am polite and I do consider what they are saying but I do find them to be a little irritating. (I had one a few years back who kept insisting that he was my Brother and that we all related via God)
I can see that the way they put their beliefs out there can put people off Christianity. Every religion has its extremists…I think people need to find faith for themselves…Make their own judgements and not let the religiously extreme over shadow the true meaning of said religion if you choose to believe. -

God made each of us differently, obviously. Here you are saying you are Christian yet calling people who understand scriptures differently "wackos" and "loonies". You worry over other peoples worries saying they are giving Christians a bad name as you yourself call them bad names??
You say you do not believe it is the end of the world, yet some say it is near. Some may scream it, some might cry, some might need to talk about, some might feel an extreme sense of urgency about it ... and so on. Some might be quiet about it, some may write about it..some may simply be waiting and doing nothing about it at all. Some may not have bothered to read the scriptures as Jesus commands us all to do... and thus would not recognize the end until it bites them in the face. God made each one of us differently ..and since He caused it all to be as it is .. probably best to not call others whose backgrounds you do not know.. whose families you do not know, whose daily lives you do not know, bad names. Ok? Live and let live, follow Jesus without scorning others. Love as you wish to be loved by God... and know that as you are practicing obeying Him, others are doing the same..but their way. It will be ok. God promised. -

Oh boy Jerry, are you feeling feisty this morning? May I suggest you do what I do? I do not preach in the open nor do I condemn those that do because I do not know who may be being reached. I accept all points of view and try not to make it personal.I respect our differences and do not care so much what others may say about me. I know who I am (and sometimes even know what I'm doing (jk)). But, I know what you are asking here and to some degree, it has a scent of judgment to those who scream.
Hey, let the screamers scream, you know who you are and they don't define you. If you feel compelled to address them, do so. Others will see that and understand where you're coming from.
We cannot change the minds of others who think of us as whackos just for being Christian. If they associate the many with the actions of a few, well, that's their problem.
Here's one to try on. I am a Catholic. Does that make me, or my priest, a pedophile? Of course not, but to some, it does.
