Answered I'm an dog lover and wouldn't even have a thought about it

I have a yard that the dog can stay in, but my cat may have a problem with the new visitor. I'd tell my friend to next time tell us or anyone he decides to surprise by bringing another guest. I find it very inconsiderate, but I have a high tolerance level for friends.

I guess it wouldn't matter as long as they bring their own food and bedding and if I had a dog..I would hope that they got along together so we wouldn't have to keep breaking up fights or keeping one dog inside and the other out. If they work 50/50 with me... it wouldn't be a problem.

I have had this happen. I closed off one room for the dog and did not let it in the rest of the house. It worked out OK. It might not have been so easy had the stay been for longer.

but their dog's gotta go outside with mine.

    Answered Say well its fine

But the dog has to stay outside...sorry. I have cats and they would go on the war path! My #1 Cat, Spunky, is a big cat and not one for the canine variety. If this was a small dog...He'd try to kill it. If it was a big dog...Spunky would be a blur, I'd probably be hard pressed to find him...and he'd be so pissed at me....not to mention his protest pee..wow.
  • raves     [-] by chris
i hate it when my cat leaves protest pee (usually on the carpet)
  • raves +1   [-] by The Hand of John
Spunky only protests when I'm behind on the litterbox duty. And then he'll go right outside the box and sometimes....while I'm watching. Now that's a protest.

once when we were getting ready to leave on vacation and dave peed all over the plastice tarp we put out to protect the carpet from hairballs. (we usually leave him in one of the spare bedreems with four times as much food and litter as he will need because he hates getting boarded at the vet)

oh the world of cats...they so know how to tame us!

So long as the dog is trained that is. I do have two dogs myself so I would want them to keep a close eye on the Dog. But I am a go with the flow kinda gal and Family is Family. I know my friends & family would welcome me and my pet so do unto others. I have to ask myself : would I want to miss the visit if he/she passed me by because of the dog? I hold my frinds and family dear so its a glitch at the most and I can always deal with a glitch.
  • raves +1   [-] by Juli

    Answered None of the above

They wouldn't come to visit me with a dog. I have 3 Doxies and that wouldn't work. I have short haired Doxies because I am allergic to long haired animals.

My dog loves to have puppy play dates! I have a big yard and lots of room to run, I wouldn't mind. In fact, I like animals better than people sometimes. But I would ask my friend in the future just let me know.

PS Why did this poll get a thumbs down?

Depends on the dog and owner. We have a dog pen out back so we would always keep a dog outside. If the dog was well-behaved and no threat to damage the house we would not require the dog to stay outside. I have always trained my dogs to be well-behaved and I expect the same behavior from other dogs that I allow into our home.

My son is allergic to dogs and many other animals. So I would not be able to have him or the dog in my house. Even the dander on his clothes after visiting the dog could cause a reaction. We just pray he grows out of it, but now it seems unlikely. We do like animals, but for now we have to keep them at a distance.

Just as long as the dog stays in the back yard.

Since we are allergic to dogs and all my fiends know this, they wouldn't think of bringing their animal, but if they did, the animal would have to be put up elsewhere as well as my "firend".

I would figure out something. I would tell the friend that common courtesy dictates that they ask first and bring their own food and pick up the doggy poo. Fortunately I have dogs that get along with other dogs.

The dog would be welcome, but if it was a big one it would have to stay in the fenced patio.
