I'm not talking about talking baby-talk to a BABY. I'm talking about people who talk baby-talk to a spouse or other adult, especially in public.
Men, what do you think when a woman talks to you this way?
Women, if you'll admit that a man talks to you this way, what do you think of it?
What do you think when you hear it from others?

When an adult talks that way to me, I just don't take them seriously, I mean what the heck? I didn't even talk that way to my kids, and when they were toddlers, they were easy to understand, and spoke clearly and were easily understood by everyone. I think parents do their kids a disservice by talking "baby talk" to their infants...they think that is how you are supposed to talk, as for adults...I have no clue as to why someone would find it endearing. -

My previous manager would baby talk e.g. Why can't I have, I don't understand, but I want it that way. The other colleague used to mother her and my manager loved it. I ended up going off for 3 months with stress. I now work with proper adults who speak properly to each other and its lovely. I think its not normal to speak baby talk especially for an office manager. -

It always makes me think that there was some damage done to that particular person at a young age. I took psychology and learned that most people who use baby talk suffered severe trauma when they were very young (usually molestation). That is why so many strippers/porn stars use baby talk. or (ahem) Britney Spears, Anna Nicole.
