Answered no spelling is not the issue
But if you're digging at them anyway, it's just one more thing to point out. Such as the (intentionally inserted, I'm sure) "Arthur" of a poll (author).
But in general, you can get the gist of what is being said, regardless of spelling. -

I type about 80 WPM and then of course I am trying to capture my thought all at the same time....it isnot unlikely that I will mispell a word or leave out a letter. I type to get my thought down before I lose focus on it or get bored wtih the answer. -

Actually i think it is rude and mean to trash a pollster for their spelling.
Now if you are talking about the users that use u for you and r for are.....
That is a different story. Some people just can't spell no matter how hard they try.
Why make them feel bad. That is not vury nise -
raves Oct 06, 2008 07:32AM GMTI know for a fact anyone can learn if they put themselves to it. And if they spell things wrong here online there is a handy little red dotted line that shows up underneath the incorrect spelling and they can right click it and get the proper spellings up when they speak online. There is no excuse for laziness. If they hadn't been lazy and tried they could learn. You can do anything you put your mind to, and the computer makes it pretty damn hard to make a spelling mistake and they don't take advantage of that. That is being lazy. And I would be amazed if you honestly did not know how to spell those words. You seem like a very intelligent and well educated woman, so it would just shock me. Hence why I felt the need to ask you.

raves +2 Oct 06, 2008 07:47AM GMT (edited)I can spell without the help of spellcheck..I can't type fer chit though ..
I disagree strongly with you on people and spelling. What comes easy
for some is harder for others. I know many who spell a word like it sounds..you
would have a field day correcting them..But in the end you would look nit picky
and they would continue to make 100 grand a year. I think there are much more
important things to worry about,,, than how somebody spells. So we are going to
have to agree to disagree on this one . -
raves +1 Oct 06, 2008 05:33PM GMTYour wrong. And like i said we do not agree on this.
I don't know where you get that some mispelled words mean
no good job? I think you need to lighten up on this issue.
Your not the spellcheck. It might be one of your pet peeves
but one you have to deal with, not the pollster. This site is set up
for fun. I don't want to ever make somebody feel like they don't
belong here. Now i don't like the f-bomb dropped,,i think that people
who use it don't have anything intelligent to say...
Wow now wasn't that bad of me... YES it was
I don't like the word, but i am wrong in lumping everybody
who uses it together. Just like your wrong lumping all who spell
wrong as lazy. Have a Great Day -

Answered if you cant spell why start a poll you moron
Proper grammar and spelling are important, but they're --- equally --- circumstantial. I would never hire a new employee who submitted a fractured resume. I would disregard an advertisement or any sort of professional solicitation rife with awkward wordage or poor punctuation. I'd feel if they were so lax in their editing, they'd probably be lax in their services to me.
But SodaHeads, rejoice! For the tumbling, fun-lovin' bunch we are, and for casual communication everywhere, good grammar don't mean a thang! Go ahead and skreww up yer syntax to yer heart's content! -
raves +2 Oct 06, 2008 04:18AM GMTthank you that all I was really asking. I am not now or will ever write for a paper or news station. I will never write a collage paper, because I know I suck in the English language, this is not ether of these things, it just a place to where we all can ask anything and have fun with different things, and if its so important to be a scholar or a journalist here then I guess this is not a place for me. and all you over educated people can just sit here and type out your GP averages that you had in collage,,and type the worlds problems into solutions, and maybe even be recognized by a group from the Pulitzer committee and get an award for your remarkable journalism.

raves Oct 06, 2008 05:47AM GMT (edited)...hey....... just jackin' widja, bud.... I checked your profile a minute ago, and it seems spelling really IS a sensitive topic for ya, but that's OK. We're all stronger at some things than others ---you, me, everybody else~~~ and we're ALL dumber than a box of rocks in any number of subjects.
Just the very fact you'd post a poll here on SodaHead puts you WAY ahead of some of these Einsteins.
Hang in there. -
raves +1 Oct 06, 2008 02:50AM GMTonline, lots of people are in a position of using a translator though, and obviously, the meaning of their native tongue and what the translator converts it to aren't always the same thing.... I deal with that at work everyday.. you can't simply ding a person on what you see printed based solely on the words, it's much more important to read through and see what they were meaning to say instead of an out of place, or grammatically challenged sentence...
-
raves Oct 06, 2008 04:17AM GMTWell if English isn't their native tongue I understand. But I know people from plenty of countries who English isn't their native language and they speak and write it better than most Americans I know. And I know the person who made this poll is American. SO he should be able to spell and write proper English there's no excuse for that but laziness.
-
raves +1 Oct 06, 2008 04:30AM GMThow much to you really know about me. just enough to make a judgment. and making theses judgments knowing just what you know of me in here is all you need,. and how many degrees do you hold in English. I am sure you are on the alumni at Harvard, and have a PHD in American literature. with a minor in human behavior
-
raves Oct 06, 2008 05:03AM GMTI have no PHD's, I've never been to college and I dropped out of high school because my teacher was a cunt. I only have my regular schooling (grades k-12) under my belt. They teach English. Guess you just didn't pay attention. It's not hard and nothing special to learn English. You were just lazy apparently.
-
raves Oct 06, 2008 07:21AM GMTAnd that right there was yet another show of your ignorance to the language you speak. Why not learn to better yourself, and look more intelligent in front of others? Or do you want to look like you are not knowledgeable? If you don't want to better yourself that is your problem.

a lot of smart people can't spell well, and some just can't type and make lots of mistakes because of that, the answer is whats important.
