Lehman Brothers attempt to defraud government: Should the CEO go to jail?
On the brink of bankruptcy, investment bank Lehman Brothers funneled millions of dollars to their executives rather than trying to save the company. It's one thing to let your company burn to the ground, but get this, they then turned around and begged the federal government to bail them out! Are you effing kidding me?! Luckily, the government let them go under, but to think that we could've been paying some exec's early eight-figure Christmas bonus with taxpayers' money really riles me up. When some of the money management employees suggested that the executives skip out on their bonuses, George H. Walker, a Lehman executive (and President Bush's cousin...now why do I not find that surprising?) was embarrassed that such a preposterous notion would even be considered. It is ridiculous that these guys can get rewarded so handsomely for mismanaging a company so poorly. Pocketing all of your company's money and then asking for a federal rescue should be considered fraud. These people need to punished, but instead they're laughing all the way to the bank.
Edit (10/7/08): Awesome story: One Lehman Brothers worker, who was lifting weights at the company gym a few days after the bankruptcy, walked up to Fuld, who was on a treadmill, and punched him out cold. Thank you for doing what all of us wish we could do!

i do not think they should be put into jail where we can pay for them to relax. i think they should cain them up some where where everyone can walk by and kick them in the nuts. let them lick the shit off the dogs ass as they pass by for there food. i have not looked at my retirement yet but i know that my wife's 401k have lost $6,000.00 , and we where going to retire in a couple more years. i would love to stab a fork in there eye's. -

Answered Yes, take those Lehman execs out of their mansion gates and put them behind some prison gates.
Without a doubt - they should be charged, tried and sent to prison!!!! and then when allowed out, perform community service for the rest of their lives at the homeless shelters for they people they helped put there. -

As someone that has been in Corporate Finance for over 20 years, I can tell you there shouldn't be a question if all that is proven the decision makers are liable and go to jail.
If anything other than that happens, someone should scream foul. -

Answered Can't blame them for looking out for themselves.
Rich or powerful people are better than the rest of us,
and should not be held to the same standard. They should
not be jailed for robbing our retirement accounts. Moreover,
when they ignore subpoenas (e.g. Carl Rove or Todd Palin),
they should get away with laughing at it and ignoring it, and not be hauled into jail like
a common criminal, even though peons like us could never
get away with this sort of behavior. -

Try them ,fellow Americans."Can't blame them for looking out for themselves"Yikes. We could do better at a counter-narrative there, fellas?
If there is a Stock/CPA/Finance expert about please answer a question of mine?
The blanket stopgap "no selling short" orders now in play. Is that necessary? But more to the point-is it effective? Will it work? Why not simply reinstate the "uptick rule"? -
raves +2 Oct 08, 2008 10:40PM GMTAs a hard working, 40-hrs/wk White guy(31 years at it)told three years ago that I "had reached my position's ceiling pay "-at less than $50k-in LA- I cannot wait to see those ruddy-faced SOB's walk the plank, cry for "Mama" and puke upon their yellowbrick road to SingSing,Leavenworth or hell for all I care.

CEO along with the CEO's of Bear Stearns and Wamu if proven that they were lying to investors about their liquidity, unfortunately I hear shredders working overtime, they most certainly should go to jail!!!! They've lost people millions with their lies and greed! -

Not only do I think they should be put in prison, I think they should be escorted into prison, wearing a pink dress with red lipstick, while forcing them to sing YMCA with a cattle prod. -

first of all jail is too good for all these CEO"S and once again would cost us the tax payers money to house, feed, and care for them
line them all up a .32cent bullet is alot cheaper then jail and our taxes paying to bail these currupt people out of going out of business
if the CEO of Lehmen brothers feels so bad like he said yesterday and AGI'S EX CEO today why dont they give the 300,000,000.00 PLUS back they dont feel that bad or they would -
