If only that were true.
Every civilization and empire has its day in the sun. Britain survived the loss of its empire and superpower status by hitching her wagon to the then-rising star, the United States. Roman civilization once looked as though it would reign forever.
The "New American Century" which Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest of the neocons hoped to raise up under a banner of GOP-led one-party rule won't be all that new. And, in the multipolar world of the 21st century, it won't be dominated by America. India and China are the up-and-comers. Asia, Europe and America will share the power.
So if the good times aren't over already, they soon will be. -

I think it is going to take some time for this country to get back where it is suppose to be. I think that things will get a little worse before they get better. It takes time to fix such a big screw up and no matter who gets into office it is going to take a few years to really see any improvement on the middle and lower class people. -

I don't agree that our best days are ahead of us, not in the near future; but I want a president who says they are and who says uplifting things, not one who runs around the world talking about how rotten we are and how we're going downhill. If Obama wins, the getting better will be a long time in the future.
