I dont know that McCain trusts his Bushies, but trust does not matter to him - he has made it very apparent that winning the election is more important to him than ethics, integrity, or even truth. This was the man who said he would take the "high road", yet the birth certificate farce goes on, a lunatic files a lawsuit in Philadelphia (and of COURSE the RNC has nothing to do with it LOL), his ads are increasingly inflammatory and false, and even when he is called on the lies - like the "he voted to raise taxes 94 times" ad which everyone except Senator McCain now admits is a lie. So no, it is not surprising that he does nothing to stop it, and welcomes those who smeared him because he knows from experience that a good smearer is an effective smearer.

As for Governor Palin, she was selected by the RNC anyway, and I am convinced that Senator McCain had little or no say at all in the choice. If he wants his own party to support him, then he has to follow orders.

Poor John. I think at some point in the past he actually did have some integrity, but that is long gone.
