Did Oklahoma State's Football coach step over the line with his verbal attack on the reporter?
Oklahoma State's Football coach went on a tirade against a reporter who wrote an article on the starting quarterback and his demotion to back up.
"Carlson's column on Saturday suggested quarterback Bobby Reid's demotion was a result of his attitude more than his ineffective play. Carlson wrote that Reid, who lost his starting job two games ago, had not always handled his nerves well and his slow starts put the Cowboys in some early holes, including some they dug out of with Reid "wielding the biggest shovel."

"Following Oklahoma State's 49-45 win over Texas Tech on Saturday, Gundy used his postgame news conference to berate Carlson for 3 1/2 minutes and left the room without taking questions. In an interview with ABC's Good Morning America that aired Tuesday, Carlson described what she thought as Gundy screamed at her."

He defended his player. Good for him. We need more college coaches like him.

Another fine example of a media that lacks brains, judgement and a conscience.

That's like a paparazzi sticking a camera in a celebrity's face all of the time. Sooner or later, one of them is going to spit on them, flip them off, dump food on them, or even punch them. She's a reporter, she should be able to handle it. That's a reporter's job, right? They don't always get their way. Boohoo. Cry more, silly reporter. Find a new job if you can't handle it.

I can't imagine what he says to his team if they are losing at halftime

People should control their tempers, especially about something as unimportant as this. No offense to sports fans, I am one too. But there really are more serious issues going on in this world besides sports.

It's about time that reporters are held to account for their words. They have freedom of the press, but not free reign to fabricate 'news' just to make headlines. People suffer as a result of bad reporting and it is well past time that bad reporters were called for what they are.

He should have simply pointed out that his win was proof that his decision was correct and moved on from there.

I thought he was perfectly within his rights to defend his player. If the reporter can report on whatever she wants, including amateur athletes and their mothers, the coach has a right to respond. I do think it wouldn't have been as big of a story had he not been so upset or confronted her privately, but I liked seeing him come to the defense of a player that is by all accounts a decent kid who doesn't get into trouble off the field.

Sorry, can't begin to form an opnion, I don't have a clue as to what this might be about. I don't follow sports at all...to busy going and doing to get involved.

No because what he said was true, if you want to report on someone... report and writer whatever you want to about grown folks, leave our children alone and that includes our children in college.

Haven't we learnt anything since the Don Imus case? Apparently not.

I thought it was great. The guy is sticking up for his players as if they were his own child. He's a great coach for doing that. The media consistently pulls crap like this and its great to see a coach take a stand.
