When I was a little girl my mother would get fresh calve's liver from the butcher and have him slice it very thin, then fry it with bacon and onions. It was good! But we all stopped eating liver years ago, because of the industrialized beef industry. The liver filters toxins and the health industry has advised eating it sparingly if at all for years now. If you eat meat (there are a lot of good reasons to avoid it, and some good reasons not to) and have a good, organic source, eat.
Jesus said it doesn't matter what you put in your mouth; it comes out the other end. What matter is what comes OUT of your mouth, as it reveals your heart.
So eat what is good for you, and what you like. Be well! -

I am a vegetarian but even when I ate meat, I thought liver had a gamy taste and would not eat it. BTW, why do meat eaters like meat that is meant to rid the body of toxins. Liver, kidneys, gizzards, cow tongue, etc? In nature, carnivores head straight for the belly! Anyway, just wondering what your thoughts are on this aspect of meat eating.

A bear kills a moose, eats his fill. A wolf finds the kill and eats some as well. The wolf is a scavenger. A predator that makes a kill will normaly eat the "guts" first and leave the rest.Example, a bear makes a kill and will eat the guts and leave the meat to rot. The bear will then return to eat the maggots on the meat.If a predator makes a kill it will leave the meat but rarely the guts. -
raves Oct 11, 2008 12:37AM GMTHave you considered washing your fruits and veggies before eating? Organs that clean the body of waste should not be eaten since they contain the body's waste and poisons. Are you offended that I am a vegetarian or do you have some other beef with me (pun not intended)? Your analogy doesn't make good sense.

raves +1 Oct 11, 2008 12:55AM GMT (edited)The recent stint of food poisoning from veggies should clear up that question. If a person didn't eat food that was used to clean out waste and poison then all vegetables are on that list as that is pretty much all they do.
"Are you offended that I am a vegetarian or do you have some other beef with me "
Nope. I'm a vegetarian as well, until I get passed the salad. ;) -
raves +1 Oct 11, 2008 01:29AM GMTWe were meant to eat fruits and veggies. You cannot compare them with the unfortunate contamination of our produce. Fruits and veggies clean out poisons in our body. Organ meat is what eliminates and holds waste from our own bodies and those of other animals. Why would someone want to eat a kidney (filters urine), liver (filters the blood of toxic materials), cow tongue (an organ that filters toxins)...etc???
Being a vegetarian does not mean just eating salads!! There are grains, pasta, legumes, etc.

raves Oct 11, 2008 01:54AM GMTWe were meant to also eat meat as well as dirt(minerals).
Why would someone eat a leaf that was designed to filter air and contains every airborne substance known plus it processes food(stomach) for the rest of the plant then is used to expel waste products. Then there are the roots that also get eaten that are the tongue and viens of the plant let alone what they also filter out from the ground. Then the consumption of the unborn plant children called seeds/grains.
FYI, the kidney and liver are not filters. They clean the system then send the "waste" out of the system. They do not catch and store that waste as a plant does. -
