I care a lot about my appearance. Everyday before school, i put my eyeliner on & make sure every single blode hair is in perfect place with about 3 cans of hairspray. Why go through all that just to impress some people i wont even know anymore in about a year or two?

Some people are insecure, some are disillusioned by Hollywood, some take absolute pride in how they look, others are just extremely hygenic. As long as you feel good about yourself, it shouldn't matter what others think of you. I can walk out of the house in pj's, without make-up, hair tied back in a ponytail, and still feel great about myself. It took me a lot to get there, but I'm there. And, in truth, I have more guys hit on me when I'm not dressed up than when I am. It's strange, but it's true. -

It takes me all of zero seconds to put my makeup on each morning. Since I've retired and work so much around the house on the remodel I don't dress like I used to. If we go to town I will spend a bit on changing clothes and cleaning up if need be. I do care about my appearance to others. It means a great deal to me. Maybe it’s just my generation but everyone I know of my age is the same. When I go to church I dress up and some of the new generation wear ragged jeans and flip flops for shoes. I don’t agree with that at all but I’m just glad they are there no matter what and I would never say anything. -

People should care a decent amount about how we look. We should dress to show respect to others, not for self-promotion. But too many people today dress to impress in a bad way. They feel insecure and succumb to peer pressure to dress like their friends and show off their fashion sense (or lack thereof). -

Honey you need to get involved in school activities or something. You sound mighty depressed over such a small thing as wanting to look good. Do you know how many people wish they had your problem....be thankful and get busy living life...not just existing! -

Peer pressure. Because we care about what people think.
If I am just home working and no one will be around I may not get dressed. especially if doing heavy house cleaning. Take a shower at the end of the day and put on clean pjs. LOL
I am usually comfortable, and will change clothes to go out. -

I don't think there's nothing wrong in wanting to look nice. If someone displays obssesive behavior, that's one thing, but my mother always told me that you should put your best on when you're out in public. That's why I will not wear flip flops and/or cuts to a nice resturant or to a meeting. I make sure I'm clean, wearing business casual or clean jeans, my sneakers or shoes are always clean.

I'm not the least bit shallow but my looks are everything to me. I like to look good. Attractive people have an upper hand here in the game of life. That's just how society is.It's unfortunate but true. Why not try to look your best? Why not put the best you out there. It sucks but people do judge you by your appearences, who really cares what others think about you. It's what you think about you and I know when I look good I feel good. -

Im gonna sum up the guys' point of view on this issue with a little song:
I'm Gonna make love to you woman
Gonna lay ya down by the fire
And caress your womanly bod-ay
Make you moan and perspire
I'm gonna get those juices flowing
Making Love Gravy, Love Gravy, Love Gravy
Love, Love, Love.. -
Answered Because they're insecure
I think it does come down to insecurity. Most folks are hung up on what other people think about them and appearance does get people talking, bad or good. I also think the truly gorgeous people who are more than a bit narcissistic about it deep down may feel that their appearance is all they have to offer. -

I too am the same , and have been all of my life. I wont come downstairs without my full face of make up .... If i am having a housework day or doing the garden , and my husband asks me to pop to the shop for bread or something i say NO , i have not done my hair or make up and i will bump into someone i have not seen for years and they will tell people that they have seen me , and how i have let myself go . ( tee Hee) .. I care very much about my appearance, and not because i am vain or insecure . It is because i like to look good all the time .. : )
