    Answered Yes

Once upon a time God was the one people should emulate with loving, supportive parents following a close second. Then, teachers came in the mix, but that was 50 yrs ago. Now most people don't believe in God, parents are too busy being overworked and teachers are enjoying the sexual immaturity of their students.

Of course people look to the joker--the one who entertains, if they are constant; if they are always there; which makes them dependable, and if you put enough spotlight on them: they will start to influence. However, they've never been much but entertainers to me.

We need to let them b and not worship their every move. It isn't healthy the way we deify celebs. Not healthy for either.

Absolutely. They're just *people* who's job it is to entertain us. I'd rather spend my time recognizing and awarding those who sacrifice for humanitarian and scientific efforts.

Yes, dang just Britney Spears herself... look how much she's been in the news this past week. Look how many shows, newspapers, magazines and webpages are geared around reporting celebs every move. I don't normally agree with Rosie O'Donnell but I like the title of her new book, 'Celebrity Detox.' I think most of us need detoxing.

Way too much....don't get me wrong, some deserve and some don't....but I'm afraid the general public has gone over the top....a good clue is the way photographers chase/stalk these people.....

Our kids don't seem to idolize celebrities like I did when I was little. I hear my kids making fun of them more often than saying anything good.

I think we give them much too much credit for the roles they play and as such we let them influence our thoughts and decisions. Harrison Ford is probably agreat guy, but when he played the President, he was then able to sway many fans on how to vote. But, what do we really know of his political awareness or leanings?
