The movies are fantastic but nothing will ever beat an amazing book...Harry Potter is one of the greatest series ever written.

They leave so much out in the movies and I am always disappointed, I hardly enjoy watching them. The books on the other hand are just simply amazing.

Books are better always than the films because you can use your imagination and decide for yourself waht all the characters are like and things like that. I prefer it that way.

I love the movies but there's just no way to include all of the detail without making them all 5 hours long. The books are amazing!

Love them both! Love the cast of the movies but the books are just more detailed and I like to let my mind imagine what certain things look like!

By far the books are so much better than the movies. I know it is impossible to make a full movie detail by detail as in the books but I have to say there are certain things that are being left out of these movies that should stay in as they are huge turning points in the stories.

I agree that some movies are better than their novels but in Harry Potter better read and love the book first and see which is better. Prefer the book version though. Wish the producers would stick more to the story...(sigh!)

I think the books are better than the movies because the books give alot of information and on the movies not all of them are put in and I dont know for what reason

As much as I have enjoyed the movies, there is so much more to the books, if you were to put all the details from the books to the movies, each one would be a mini series. Books all the way!!

They're wonderfully written. The movies leave out so many small details that make you fall in love with the characters even more. The books made me cry. The movies never came close.

they cut too much out of the movies. they just ruin it sometimes. its no fun when ur watching the movie and u can pinpoint every scene they cut out.

Books will always be better. When a book is turned into a movie the most of the times the writters change the story, and to me Harry Potter is the best book series ever written, but the movies are just not the same. The only one I think is more like the book is the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Book of course, becasue they have more detail into the story. Although, the movie let you get a mental and sort of physical feel as to what's happening in the story. It's like Eye-Candy.

well I think cuz I mean I am too lazy to acually read the big books and besides if I read it I will probably forget about it the next day

Go to the library and get the audio books.

Their more detailed, & the movie misses out 'important' features.
Eg:They missed out Ron getting strangled by the Floating Brains!
How could you miss that? =O

The movies are amazing. I think I've seen each one in theatres at least twice and I watch them a lot on DVD. (and I mean A LOT. I have to of seen Sorcerer's Stone almost 50 times!)
But the books get so much more detailed. They don't leave out any parts. It's much easier to get into the books.
I just get lost in them. I've read every one at least twice.

books, definately! if you like the movies better, fine. but you can't really say you like the movies better if you didn't read the books.

    Answered books

the goblet of fire movie ticked me off, they didnt even get the story line right.
  • raves     [-] SearchlightMasquerade replied to J62
I thought the Prisoner of Azkaban was off the story line more than Goblet of Fire.
But I haven't read either of those two books lately so I probably wouldn't remember that much.
But you have to think about it if you never read the book. It's a really good movie if you take it from that view.
All I hate is that more people (from what I've experienced) complain about the color of Hermione's dress in the movie than they do about Dan's eye color.
  • raves +1   [-] valav replied to SearchlightMasquerade
It's not the producer's fault about Dan's eye color, they tried to make him wear contact lens, but his eyes irritated so... And in my opinion the Prisoner of Azkaban was not off the story line at all I think is the best one because is almost like the book, the others are totally wrong even the first one is completely changed!!
  • raves     [-] SearchlightMasquerade replied to valav
I know it's not the producer's fault. I was just saying that people don't complain about his eye color so why complain about the color of a dress?

Beter as books, okay as movies...I always get sad for my brother after we've watched a new HP movie and he goes 'the part where they ....was cool' and all I can think it that it's done so much better in the books!! He doesn't want to read them, so he'll never know the whole story..
