"Under new rules proposed by the Transport Security Administration (TSA) (pdf), all airline passengers would need advance permission before flying into, through, or over the United States regardless of citizenship or the airline's national origin.
Currently, the Advanced Passenger Information System, operated by the Customs and Border Patrol, requires airlines to forward a list of passenger information no later than 15 minutes before flights from the US take off (international flights bound for the US have until 15 minutes after take-off). Planes are diverted if a passenger on board is on the no-fly list.
The new rules mean this information must be submitted 72 hours before departure. Only those given clearance will get a boarding pass. The TSA estimates that 90 to 93 per cent of all travel reservations are final by then."
The language is iffy but this would be a huge change. Do you think this is a good idea or would this result in catastrophe?

It sounds like a good idea, but if it is something that the Bush Administration came up with, you know there has to be some flawed thinking here. They have American Citizens names on their no-fly list. Occasionally there is more than one person of that name, one is a bad guy/chick, and the others are good, yet they all get treated the same. I sincerely don't trust anything Bush's administration comes up with. He's a liar and a thief and a coward and he surrounds himself with yes men, who have no balls, because they play yes men to the American Idiot. I just have a feeling that this new rule would cause a serious boondoggle and there would be a bunch of Americans stuck in Europe fighting with the US Embassies, trying to prove that they are good citizens. It would turn into a nightmare. -

Well, it has its perks for national security...
But have you ever been to the airport on ANY day? You have to get there nearly three bloody hours early, and mainly for security. I'm sorry, but I don't want to have to get up earlier than I really have to.
And terrorists are tricky little bastards. They're like roaches...
Also, when I traveled this summer, I forgot to take the scissors that I had in my carry on from when I used it in school out of my bag, and get this: they didn't catch it. I could have pulled a nutter on the plane and stabbed everyone to death!
So, I wanted to click two different choices but I couldn't. -
Answered No! The TSA can't handle the system as it is. The airlines don't need anymore problems.
I AGREE WITH THOSE WHO SAY IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF NOTHING. MORE BEAURACRACY, MORE HOLDUPS, MORE TENSION, MORE FEAR. I FORSEE NOTHING POSITIVE IN THIS AT ALL. IT'S NOT EVEN WORTH DEBATING. LET'S GET INTO WHY O JAY AND BARRY BONDS ARE INNOCENT; OR WHY "BERRETA" GOT OFF SCOTT FREE. HOW ABOUT THE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF HORSES THAT ARE SENT TO OTHER COUNTRIES TO BE SLAUGHTERED UNMERCIFULLY. HOW ABOUT THAT -

I think it's a good idea, but it might not work to well.It would also help the police find any criminals that are trying to flee. I think they should take atest run with it & see how it goes. Alot of people would get mad, but it might just help our defenses. -

I'm sure that terrorists would figure out a way to get around it. Thus, making it a big waste of time really.
