Do You Know anyone in the Malibu Fire area?

I went to Pepperdine University (Malibu California campus) in 1996 when I experienced this fire firsthand. That's why I know a lot of the staff and a few students in the Malibu Area. I also work in animal rescue and would like to know if there is a need for volunteers to deliver animal assistance OR people assistance (collecting water etc). I saw on the news that Malibu Presbyterian Church has been burned to the ground. I also noticed that there are several firefighters driving up from Orange County even though the Red Flag is live for all of Southern California and there are fires near Lake Castaic.

Any ideas? I pray that everyone is safe.

Answered No, I'm just praying.

If it wasn't nature that started this or these fires then it was a criminal offense that who ever is convicted of this should not be able to get out of prison until they are 80 years old.

I may, but I'm not checking in 'til it's over. Last thing they need is a phone call right now. There's nothing I can do and LAFD are a great bunch of people who are doing their best.

Not only do I know someone in the area; I am someone in the area! I'm at Pepperdine, and we're all safe here now -- it was a CRAZY morning, though. I'll keep praying for everyone in the area.

Oh, and pray for the deer that live around campus! I saw them running around this morning as we were evacuating.

i'm trying to find out if there's any need for animal rescue. I have an apt in venice ready to go
as long as they get along with my 2 cats and my 1 foster cat.
  • raves +1   [-] Chadillac replied to Assassin Felinious
It was so sad. They looked very lost and confused. I did notice that the Tyler Campus Center and library were filled with people and their pets, too. It's probably the only time I'll ever see dogs walking around in the cafeteria ...

So at least this year they let ppl bring pets... my cats go where i go no matter what.

I feel very surreal right now. I was in your shoes 11 years ago to the WEEK! I have pictures that I'm trying to find to compare what the smoke plumes then looked like compared to now.

That's back when I was an SA (student advisor).
  • raves +1   [-] Chadillac replied to Assassin Felinious
How weird! I'm an SLA this year, that's the replacement for SAs ...
  • raves +1   [-] Assassin Felinious replied to Chadillac
(ok now you're creepin me out) ... i was SA of E Pengilly ("dorm" (residence hall) whatevs.. then my junior year i was RA of Beta
  • raves +1   [-] Chadillac replied to Assassin Felinious
Okay ... are you ready for this one? I was SLA last year of Eaton (right next to E Pengilly). This year I'm at honors housing, though.

    That's incredibly coincidence.

I readily agree.. If you could share this poll, so that I can find a way to do more, could you?

Please let me know if you don't know how to share the poll!

    Thanks!

I'm trying to see if the American Red Cross needs assistance - I was there in 96 and saw what the students are experiencing right now. However, the flames look so freaky at night and they have yet to experience this.
